Talk to me people. Gimme your honest opinion, none of that "Boo hoo, he's overrated just because he's been hired by the Giants" TATEr bullshtein.

I think his work with the Eagles' linebackers speaks for itself.

Mad-Lad

tough call.  i have no idea.  either he's crappy as all hell at coaching linebackers or Heckert and Co. are the worst judge of linebacker talent EVER!  maybe both.

I don't think anyone knows that much about him. He coached the Eagles DBs at one point, when they still had Taylor and Vincent, then the last 3 years he was the LBs coach. But what suprises me is that Coughlin said he was the only one he interviewed. I mean, before Jim Mora was hired to be secondary coach by the Hawks, he was a DC with the 49ers when they had a good defense.

BlueHeart

Mora was on the very short list of people the Giants were interested in talking to for the job, but, I don't know if any talking was actually done.

When Rivera was our LBs coach it seemed like he could plug anyone into the WIL spot (Gardner, Caldwell, Barber etc.) and they'd be productive. I remember a saying a few years back that 'our LBs were a product of the system' - which was the reason Trot came back after an ugly departure. Since Rivera's left our LBs have been on a steady decline. Sure the talents not as good - D'hani's not Emmons, Trots older, and our WILs have been switched a bunch - but I don't put all the blame on them, our LBs are piss poor, granted we don't have space eaters on the D-line, but they were flat out missing tackles all year and out of position. Spags might step in with the Giants and be successful, but I'm really surprised they hired him since our LBs were the suckiest part of our team.

BlueHeart

Thanks, SD, and all. Especially for looking at it from both ends.

God willing, he'll be able to do something with our bunch. The talent is there (if they can stay healthy). Emmons isn't even Emmons anymore, so, who knows what will be going on with that. I've been calling for moving Kiwi to OLB in his place. Can't hurt. LOL

I dunno anything about the guy, except for what I read, so, I figured I'd ask. LBC isn't exactly a coaching position that people keep track of, so, I appreciate anything you guys have.

I'm not exactly sad to see him go. SD illustrated the situation well. Rivera was a guy who could make something out of nothing much like Juan Castillo does with the OL.

I would have been more worried if they would have lost Sean McDermott . He's the guy who gives the signals to the defense after getting them from JJ and he seemed to have JJ's ear more than anyone. I would guess he is the heir apparent to the DC job when Johnson leaves.

Take Dhani with you, Spags.

BlueHeart

Farg no. He's your bow-tie-wearin'-air-guitar-playin' problem now.

I highly doubt he'll be back next year.

I also highly doubt whoever replaces him will be any good either.
