the games might individually be more exciting at times, but....pro football has whats called a playoff. and a clear champion. college? not so much.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

im one of the few who is anti playoff in college football....i think not having a playoff is what makes it so great

child that is retarted. you think its great to have 24 meaningless games and 1 meaningful one? like, really. im not getting into the farging sun bowl. or the peach bowl. or the texas bowl. or the gmac bowl. who cares about those games?

8 team playoffs + other useless bowls= the way to go.

they are only meaningless to you because you dont care about any of them but the championship

but to real cfb fans all bowls are big

why do you think bowl records are so important

ask rutgers if winning their first bowl ever was meaningless

ask the 25 thousand md fans that traveled to orlando if the citrus bowl was meaningless

if bowls didnt matter trust me they wouldnt be played

winning a bowl is huge in cfb...maybe not to the espn stuart scott sportcenter fan but to the real fans bowls are big time (tho i will say there are to many right now)

I understand. If Temple somehow got into a bowl, it would be huge. Like insane. I would go.

But I'm talking from the general fans point of view. Outside of your team's bowl game, who gives a shtein about the other ones? A tournament would make everyone care about everyones elses games.

Igy, would you care if you weren't a degenerate gambler?  ;)

Even with a playoff system you can still have these bowls.

You take the top 8 or whatever teams and they are in the playoff.

Then you take the rest of the teams and they go to the Poulan Weedeater Bowl, the Valtrex Bowl and whatever else is out there...

the Valtrex Bowl

Yeah, but that would be VA Tech vs. Michigan every year.

true youd still have the bowls but a eight team playoff would significantly cheapen the regular season...college football regular season is so good because every game means something...from mid october on you essentially are having a playoff with the top ten teams

plus i love the controversy and discussion it creates

in the end has there ever been a really outrageous result...i mean its not like boise state or the mac winner is making bcs championship...its always like this year where two great programs like michigan and florida are beefin...in the end tho can anyone really get that upset that florida is there and not michigan (other than michigan fans)

i can def see the argument for a playoff but i persoanlly love the way it is

the most id ever do is a plus one system

Look at the interest that March Madness generates for all the proof you need about the viability of a college football tournament.

The fact that there isn't one in effect now is a disgrace, IMO.

ice grillin you

a 64 team basketball tourney va a 8 team football playoff...apples and oranges

anyway the ncaa tournament is as popular as it is for one reason and one reason only...bracket pools

a football playoff would cheapen not only numerous regular season games...but also conference championship games...even conference titles

They're both tournaments, IGY.  Every sport has them except college football.  Hell, even marginal sports associations like NASCAR and The PGA have instituted them because they draw interest to their respective sports.

The only reason CFB hasn't instituted a playoff system is because of the greed of the bowl committees and the wealth and influence of those who run them.

I'd rather see a quarterfinal matchup between seeds #1 & #8 over the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl any day of the week.
