Bowl game committees and sponsors have way too much riding on the current system to ever allow a playoff.

The BCS is a gutless system but it is what it is and we're stuck with it.  Hell, we're just the fans anyway.  It's not like they give a shtein what we want or what we deserve.

Don't they deserve a chance at a championship, too?

nope.

Why not?  They were undefeated.

I should play Temple 12 times next season so I can go to the Championship game.  nice.

i really like the bcs...the only time i dont is when theres a third deserving undefeated team who get sleft out and in that case i like the plus one formula

but in general i love the debate it creates and how it makes every game in college football life and death

i really dont understand why anyone outside of michigan fans would have a problem this year....one 1 loss team who won their conf. made it over another 1 loss team who didnt...i dont see where the uproar is in having fla make it over michigan

...and they play in a conference that has Hawaii, Nevada and nothing else.  If one of the Sun Belt schools went undefeated against the garbage in their conference, should they get a shot at the national title?

Quasimoto

I know they play in a weak conference.  My point is everyone should get a shot regardless.  Why can't they at least have that benefit?

I met some guy yesterday at the Philly airport who is a big-time WVU alum.  Said Rodriguez is as good as gone.

Rodriguez accepts the Alabama job.

How reliable is that source?

Well... our sports dept. talked to a connect we have in Tuscaloosa.  He's aware of the site reporting this and he says "it's about 90-95% a done deal".

West Virginia University is working to keep football coach Rich Rodriguez and the two parties have been actively negotiating today, said sources close to the situation. Sources have also said that Alabama, who has been courting Rodriguez for most of the last week, have set a 3 p.m. deadline for a decision from the Grant Town native.

Rodriguez and his wife, Rita, met with Alabama athletic director Mal Moore Tuesday night in New York City before the College Football Hall of Fame induction banquet, according to published reports. The meeting lasted about 90 minutes.

ESPN, citing several Alabama newspapers, has reported that Alabama offered Rodriguez a six-year contract worth $12 million.
