mine isn't rechargable at all & there is no power cord...it only runs on batteries so i bought rechargable batteries & a charger.

He's talking about this incarnation:

Aside from the recent problems I've been having with my itunes software, I'm pretty much disappointed with the ipod in general.  I got the video ipod and eventhough I bought a carry case for it, the screen it still pretty scratched up on it and I absolutely hate the controls on it.  It's not even safe to use when you're driving and spinning my finger around in circles trying to get to a song I want to listen to is totally retarded.

ice grillin you

i got the sansa johnson

i like it  a lot except for you cant or at least i dont know how to organize my songs...they all just come out in one big list regardless of the type of music...is there anyway to subcatergorize them

also how do you retitle files like inside the mp3 itself

for example in a folder on my hard drive might be this song and i have it shown looking like this:

gangstarr - mass appeal

but after i put it on the sansa mp3 player it may be listed any of a dozen ways for example

103. gangstarr mass appeal
track 1 mass appeal
MASS APPEAL
GanGSTArr
mass appeal hard to earn gangstarr
rap hits mass appeal

i wanna get it so that when i put songs on the mp3 player they show up with just the song name and artist all in the same cased letters ie the way that i set it up on my hard drives...so that i have a standard on my player instead of crap being listed every which way but loose

can anyone help me with this...if they even understand what im saying

If you had an ipod, I would be able to help you with all those things -- issues I had problems with and then had to find out how to fix them.  Unfortunately, I've never touched a Sansa.  Sorry.....

which system, if any, is displaying the actual file name?

my brother just explained it to me

you can 'rename' an mp3 file and the title will represent that name in a folder on your hard drive...but the mp3 player itself recognizes the name within the properties of the mp3 file...so what you have to do is right click on the mp3 file and then go into properties and then the summary tab...and thats where you can change the name to show up on the mp3 player how you want

so the answer to my question is, the Sansa is showing the actual file name.

Im not sure if it works this way on a Sansa, but one thing that annoys the hell out of me is when you have an album with about 10 songs and you want to keep them all together, and one of them is by "artist ft. ____" and it's in it's own seperate category because of the "featuring." It sucks.

My iPod did that.  It annoyed the shtein out of me.

I'm in the process of buying a new mp3 player but I'm done with iPod's.  Two times now I've gotten them and they've broken seemingly out of nowhere.  This second one really pissed me off because how well I took care of it.  I have about 30GB of songs on my computer so I want to get a nice one that isn't made by Apple.

I've been looking at the Toshiba Gigabeat.  A few of my friends have them and really like them.

Yeah, that does suck.  About four or five times a year I get baked outta my head and spend a few hours sifting through all my .mp3 folders renaming the actual file names so that whatever front end app I'm using is picking up a uniform syntax.

if the 'actual file name' is the one in the properties section of an mp3 file then the answer to your question is yes

no program does a good job of organizing my music files unless I manually change my file library to conform to a standardized naming logic.  It's a pain in the ass, but once it's done it's easy to maintain and whatever program you used spits them out right.

i'm repeating myself, I know.
