Suppose that we accept that McNabb is not going to be back until midseason 2007. And that he's on the downturn, as some writers suggest.

What should be done?

I don't think free agency is a good option.

How about making a trade with some team that would give their left nut for a guy like McNabb...even if he's injured?

Do you think that Reid could start over with a new franchise QB if he had the opportunity to take one with a high first-round draft pick?

Quasimoto

I thought about this.   We could definitely muster up at least two very good picks for McNabb.  People would kill for a QB like him.

As far as Reid starting over.  I want him starting over elsewhere.  His time is up here in Philly.

shot knee + age + salary = mcnabb untradeable
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

if you are really going to investigate this, we need to know what the cap impact of trading McNabb would be.

and I don't think he's as tradeable as some people think.  why would a team give up multiple picks for a older qb coming off a bad knee injury when they can draft a young guy and develop him?  (yeah, basically what IGY said, f off)

Some teams are stupid enough.  See the Dolphins and Culpepper.  Something tells me a team like the Lions with Matt Millen running the ship would pull the trigger on a trade like that.

trades like that dont happen in the nfl anyway...so im not sure why we are even discussing it

as for the future i dont think a qb has to be drafted this year but if there is one on the board that you really like and it makes sense at a particular spot then you do it...including in the first round

i wonder how much signing bonus is spread over those years, because that's the number that messes with the cap if he is traded

The problem is that unless they totally tank, they probably won't be in a position to take one of the (potentially) elite guys.

Sure they do.  They're en vogue for a team like Washington!  :-D

SunMo

depends on how many are available...Cutler lasted until after 10 this year, Rothlesberger the same thing when he was drafted

One thing is that Andy has never been gun shy on draft day.   So that can always help.

Are yous the same dikholes that want to trade AI every year?

its all base salary...hes been paid all his bonuses

where does everyone stand on the qb positon

10 - mcnabb is done time to move on

5 - a qb doesnt have to be drafted this year but if there is one on the board that you really like and it makes sense at a particular spot then you do it...its time to acknowledge that the future is closer than we think

1 - dont even think about getting a young qb for at least another couple years
