Borat can be skipped.  It's alright, but not half so brilliant as some of Cohen's earlier work.

Just got back from Casino Royale, and it's much more like the older Bonds than anything since Connery.  It has a grittier, darker feel than the Moore/Brosnan Bonds and has nearly eliminated the witticism that have been infused in the Bonds since Moore and has recaptured a true feel of the spy thriller for the first time since Connery.

I was quite impressed with Craig as a Bond.  He had a great first effort.

Overall, Casino Royale is by far the best Bond movie since Goldeneye (and perhaps better than that as well), and easily falls in my Bond top 5.

After that crappy Bond movie between GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough, I kinda lost interest. GoldenEye was awesome though, definately one of my favorite all time movies. I never went to see Die Another Day, I figured it would be crap like that other one. I wish I could remember the name. It's THAT forgettable to me.

AH! Tomorrow Never Dies. I don't know, I liked the story line to it, the whole media creating the stories thing...but the movie just didn't do it for me.

I havn't decided if I'm gonna see this new one in theatres.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'll wait for DVD regardless. Borat and The Departed are on my list to see in theatre

Finally watched Syriana all the way through and thought it was excellent. Horribly depressing, but an extremely good movie.

I will say this, however. I liked Traffic better. The timing of the movie with everything that is going on in the Middle East right now added a level of interest, but the truth is that I care a whole lot more about drugs than I do about oil, which made Traffic far more interesting to me.

Still, 4.5/5

I watched The Notebook last night. I think it has already been reviewed by some on this board.

Usually I don't care for Love stories but this one 'almost' made me shed a tear ala Armageddon.

4.5/5 as well because of its emotional pull. Not many movies out of the thousands that are out there can tap into you, be it excitement, suspense, depression, hate, etc. This movie did a good job in the sad/happy dept. and will buy you points with your woman as well (just be prepared to deflect the ensuing marriage talk :paranoid )
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

Girlfriend made me watch that. I didn't go in expecting to like it, as I'm usually into that type of movie...but it had a good emotional pull, as you said, and I enjoyed the story line. There were also a few little laughs thrown in. The ending of course is the part that really kinda tugs at your emotions a little bit, a very bittersweet type of ending. And of course the girl you're with when you see it will be all over you (after she's done crying).

I finally watched "The Island".  Scarlett is ridiculously hot in that movie.  Good overall movie in my book, Sort of a Matrix feel.  3.5 of 5

Watched these this week so far:

Davini Code.  Eh.  It was OK, but I think if I hadn't read the book it either would have sucked, or been been better.  I'm not really sure.  Way too much talking and not enough doing for my taste.  3/5

MiIII.  I like this one.  I'm all for action movies, and even with that asswipe Cruise in the movie, I was very entertained.  Lots of realistic holes in the plot, but I went in with that expectation.  4/5
