First thing I thought of when I heard about Pata was the FIU game.

Anyone think theres a retaliation factor involved there?

Thought about it.

And its certainly possible. But was he a guy who had a big time part in that fight? Or did he get it because he is associated with The U? Of course the likely answer would be that since it is in the Miami area the crime is high and likely not connected to the FIU stuff, but if it were it would be a crazy story.

Im not sure how much involvement he had in the brawl, but I dont think he was one of the players who was suspended.

But, if it was connected, it would be one of the craziest sports stories of all time.

Rich spoiled white kids playing football. woohoo.

Says the spoiled rich white kid from Elkins Park...

:-D

Ha. It depends how you define spoiled. In a sense, all Americans are spoiled. In terms of this country, I'm pretty middle class.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Butch Davis to coach UNC...

Mooch in the running for the MSU job...

So MDS is this Travis Shelton guy actually good or is he just an average player that looks better because of the other Temple players?

MDS

He's fast. He outran Devin Hester at their fried chicken and watermelon Afrian American Black Jamboree Ethnic Good Time Family Reunion. But Temple sucks. That said, so does Penn St. Shelton could break one, but would need to get a TD. No matter the field position, there's a good chance Temple will move backwards. Temple's linebackers also suck and they can't get pressue on the QB. The offense is halfway decent at this point. Penn State should win by 50 if they try. 25 if they show up.

What.

The.

Hell??

Why would Butch Davis take that shtein job?  Coker's done at UM.  Why not just wait until he's fired and take over Thug U?

MDS

Cause they are gonna sign Al Golden. Duh.

Chapel Hill's a really nice place.
Expectations won't be too high too fast.
He won't be coaching a bunch of thugs.
His players probably won't be murdered.

etc

Rome

UNC is the Arizona Cardinals of NCAA football.

It makes no sense for him to take a job like that when one of the top-5 jobs in the profession is open to him.  Conceivably open, anyway.

College football in the state of Florida = overrated

After the start of this season, the U isn't even a top-10 job.

And IGY's right anyway - it's all about the dollars.

Rome

That's just not true, FF.

UM has its pick of players in the southeast, and especially Florida, and Florida produces some of the best college football players in the country.

Five national championships in the last 20 years goes a long way and then there's the ridiculous number of professionals that the school produces.

I'm telling you, the Hurricanes are like a religion down here for high school players, and Butch Davis is one of the best recruiters ever.   As much as it sickens me to say it, if Davis went back to UM, they'd be legitimate contenders again in 3 years, tops.

Not anymore.  Both Florida and FSU had significantly better recruiting classes last year.

Butch Davis coached at Miami before.  May he knows something we don't.
