Okay - quick question... is it the NBA or the N.B.A.?

The reason I ask is I was reading the Sunday New York Times yesterday and they kept referring to the league as the N.B.A. instead of the NBA.  Did I miss a memo or something?

All I want is a competitive team to watch. The Eagles are borderline, the Flyers are not even close, and PSU has 2 games left against Temple and Michigan State  before their Bowl game. Even if the Sixers 'make it interesting' this season and get a low playoff seed I'd be happy with that. We give up that pick this year and then we don't ever have to worry about it again.
And on that note, I know it's very early but Carney's been impressive.

It's too early to tell how the East will shake out. We all know the Sixers aren't very talented, despite their good start, but if they end up with something higher than a 6 seed, they could very well end up making it past the first round. Surely that is worth giving up a first rounder.

Top 10 pick? Even if we miss the playoffs we're still good enough to be picking in the teens. Not only would we be making the playoffs and having an interesting year but we'd also be through with having that pick hanging over our heads every season.

a playoff appearance this year is different from the past couple of teams making the playoffs, this team is mostly young, so them making the playoffs would probably benefit players like Korver, Iggy, Willie Green, Dalembert, etc...
