Tiki Barber blasted critics of his retirement decision on his Tuesday night Sirius Satellite Radio show, "The Barber Shop."

"...I will call them idiots, because they have neither spoken to me, nor any one of my teammates or any of my coaches," Barber said. "Yet all they do is criticize me for being a distraction with this retirement thing."

Barber was specifically upset at three of his critics: the New York Daily News' Gary Myers, who wrote that Barber had "created a season-long distraction" the Giants "don't need"; and ESPN's Tom Jackson, who said the decision "has distracted the team from the task at hand," and Michael Irvin.

"To me, in my head, that's quitting," Irvin said before the Giants' 36-22 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. "That's not retiring."

Barber singled the three out during his radio show Tuesday night.

"And that includes Gary Myers," he said. "That includes Tom Jackson on ESPN. That includes the ultimate character guy, facetiously speaking of course, Michael Irvin. Please get a clue on how to be a journalist.

"Don't make blanket assumptions about it [retirement]. And obviously, as was evidenced [Monday] night, I am a huge distraction to the New York Giants," he said.

The remarks come a week after it was first learned Barber was considering retiring after this season.

I've always liked Tiki and Gappy Toof despite them being arch rivals. Now I like Tiki even more. :yay

And I like Burress calling TO out. I don't know if it was intentional on TO's part because he did the same thing against Houston. He went to plant and slid.

He plays for a division rival and usually kills the Eagles whenever they play each other but I can't hate the guy.  He does just about everything the right way.  And now that he's insulting Micheal Irvin I'm starting to develop a bit of a man crush on him.

The Eagles would have been a much better team if Tiki and Ronde played for us instead of rivals.  Belee dat.

TO slipped, plain and simple. Plaxico just wants some airtime. Tiki retiring is fine and if he wants to announce it, good for him. hell it could help motivate the team more than anything. irvin is an idiot, just like tiki mentioned.

merriman is a big disappointment with steriods. any offical statements by him?

Terry Foster, of the Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions WR Roy Williams believes the team can run the table and finish the season 10-6. "I'm going to say we can put this together," Williams said. "I feel we are a 9-0 ballclub. It's tough to be 1-6. We are not a 1-6 ballclub. We can be 10-6 -- sure we can. Can we win nine in a row? I believe it." Williams said he will address his teammates before they break for a long weekend during their Bye week, and hopes the team returns with a renewed desire to win.

The way I hear it is Tiki was doing an interview in which the reporter found out he was going to retire and told him she was going to run with the story so he came out. No one in the Giants' locker room was surprised.

Now if only we can get that other one to retire... the Eagles can RULE THE WOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRLD!!!!!!!
