its easy...i dont root for the eagles...i root for the city where i grew up....so as long as they have the name philadelphia in front im there

Good for you. While I appreciate the fans from other cities loving our Eagles, I just don't understand folks in the Philly area (and natives, at that) who latched onto other cities' sports teams. A native Philadelphian who is a Dallas fan should have their citizen status revoked.

I've never really understood that either.  I was a junior and senior in highschool when Dallas won their first 2 superbowls in the 90's and it was pathetic to see how many kids were wearing Dallas gear.  It was even more pathetic because of how few of them were wearing it in the beginning of the 1992 school year.

I blame their parents for not smacking them silly when their kids asked for Dallas jackets for Xmas.

That's me.  Born and raised in the area, I support all four Philly teams.

Even though my son wasn't born in PA, he's still being raised to root for the Eagles and the other Philly teams.  He doesn't have a choice.

Asking for anything Cowboys related (other than for a stab and burn scenario) is grounds for being disowned. Or having the kid stabbed and burned in the Dallas garb.

That's about the only reason I could think of for a kid to root for teams in a different city than where they were born.   Or if there's no local pro sports team to latch on to.

I don't mind fans from all over at all.......regardless of what their reasons are for being Eagles fans.  But I never understood why someone would grow up as a kid rooting for a team from a different city when they've got one right down the road that they can go see in person.  Unless you live in Arizona.  Then I totally get it.

Ditto.  My kids have tried to be Rams fans (it's easier for them at school than have to explain me to their friends), but I won't allow it.  They wear Eagles green every Sunday there is a game, and I buy them Eagles stuff for their rooms just to continue the brainwashing.  So far, I think it's working.  I wish I was a teacher so I could mold thousands of young minds, and not just three of them.  The world would be a better place.

I havn't posted since last week really, mainly because most of you pathetic people think the season is over now.....I can't stand to argue over it either so I'm just going to express my opinion and let you all be miserable. This season is not over BY FAR. Anything is possible on any given Sunday and we could go undefeated the rest of the year. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you can't deny the fact that it could happen and we can still make the playoffs. So for all of you out there doubting and moaning about our season being over, just shut it. We have the team that can do it. It's basically came down to bad penalties in all 3 games! I'm not giving up on the team just yet. KEEP THE FAITH  :evil :evil :evil

You should just paint their faces with the Eagles/Gene Simmons look.  Then they don't have to explain anything because all the other kids will be too scared to talk to them.  And I'm sure you'll find that their teachers start handing out A's as well.

This season making the playoffs is not a certainty BY FAR. Anything is possible on any given Sunday and we could go winless the rest of the year. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you can't deny the fact that it could happen and we could still miss the playoffs. So for all of you out there touting and cheering about the team making the playoffs, just shut it. We have the team that probably cant do it. It's basically came down to a horrible defense bad coaching and the same ole mistakes.  I'm not thinking playoffs just yet.  HAVE LITTLE FAITH.

QuoteLots of stuff about rah rah home team blah blah blah

Having parents who worked for the government and moving around a lot when I was a kid I learned very early that home is 'where you hang your hat', not where the heart is. My entire family is from PA and I have Eastern PA and Penn State in my blood. I never lived closer to Philly than Harrisburg but I've rooted for the city's teams since I was born. So don't act like it's so strange for non-philadelphians to be die hard.

On top of that, it's always been easy to root against the home team when the closest local team is the taterskins.

I could live without the pep talks about as much as I could live without the negativity.  As usual, both side of the extreme are pretty annoying.  That said, winning is a great deodorant...and as much as that's true, I wouldn't mind seeing a little in the way of ball control when it counts during those wins.

Don Ho

I have never lived in Philadelphia but I have an attachment to the city.  I was born in Gladwyne and my family moved back to Hawaii when I was about a year old.  I have visited the area several times and am dying to take my son to see the city and the Linc.  I love and worship all four teams (can't get into the Soul thing yet).  One of the best compliments I get is when someone introduces me to a Friend or acquaintance and they say "This is Bobby.  He's the biggest Eagles fan in the state."  We as true fans have the right to bitch, moan and point fingers.  I have followed this team religiously since 1971.  Sure wish you were all around back then for as FS 61 and FS 64 can attest to things were ugly.  Playoffs and division titles didn't exist in our vocabulary.  My faith will always be there.
