QuoteWin this game.....and all of our lives change dramatically. Because you know, just like I know, that the taterskins winning is what makes us going through each day a little better. I dont know why, I dont know how, I just know that when the taterskins are winning I feel much better about my every day tasks in life. I feel as though no matter what obstacle I have to overcome I can do it with ease.

Now I have only truly felt this once, for a period of about two months....last season when the Skins went on the five game win streak and into the playoffs. At 22, I remember the Super Bowl in 91, but I was seven and even though I already loved the Skins, I was more concerned with Ninja Turtles. In 99 I was excited about the taterskins, but I just didn't have the same feeling I have with the current Skins. They were good, but the defense was awful and the receivers were Albert Conell and Michael Westbrook. Overall I just never felt the same as I do about this current squad, for obvious reasons.
I don't need to discuss all the reasons why we are a Super Bowl caliber squad, each of you knows why, and that is why everyone is so criticial of every aspect that has anything to do with the Washington taterskins. There is no reason why the Skins can't win it all, NO REASON.

Like I said, I'm 22 and dangerously close to entering the "real world", and I have many goals that I have set for myself. Hopefully I will be able to accomplish all of my goals regardless of how the Skins are doing; with hard work, grit and determination (sound familiar), but it would help a lot to have the Skins to provide motivation...and I may even NEED it.

The day I had today is the reason I am prompted to write this. It was one of the worst days I can remember, and I wont get into details, but lets just say anything that could go wrong did, right down to the soda machine taking the last four quarters to my name. I will wake up tomorrow ready to go to battle again and hope it will turn out a little different. But here is where the Skins come into play. I need them to win, I need them to be succesful because if they can accomplish what I feel like is nearly impossible, SO CAN I.

My reason for telling you this is because I know you are the same way. It may vary from person to person, but overall, everyones lives are alot better when their beloved Skins are winning ball games. We have given our hearts to something that we cannot actually fix ourselves, we rely on others to make the correct choices for us, and for them to return the favor by winning, is an amazing feeling.

However, Ive decided we have to take matters into our own hands. It is time for the taterskins to knock off some of the best teams, starting this week with Jacksonville. We, as fans are going to will the Washington taterskins to greatness. As fans we have to eliminate all doubt, all concerns, and trust the taterskins. It sounds hard to do but its not, just have faith in your team. Whether you are going to the game or not, give everything you have as a fan on Sunday, no matter where you are... it will be felt. If you are at the game, give two times what you think you are capable of. Chug more beers, scream louder, clap harder, go crazier than you actually thought you could. Don't have a heart attack, but go so crazy you start to feel your arm go numb. This is our team, this is our time; do something for yourself, your life, your team, and give everything you've got. If you do this....WE will win.

If you think Im wrong, do it anyways, but stop and think about it first....The Saints on Monday night, The Giants last year against us, Dale Earnhardt Jr. winning the Daytona 500, the list goes on and on. Wins come when players and fans give all they have, in those cases they were because of events that happened off the field of play, but in our case, this effects every single one of us every single day...so make the taterskins win. The Skins are a part of you.

Do not let the Jacksonville Jaguars come into Fed Ex and get a win. Eliminate the ifs, buts, concerns, problems, Mark Brunell, and anything else that causes you to have doubt and tell yourself the Jacksonville Jaguars will not come to our house and knock us off under any circumstances.

Jesus.

Barry_Wilburn speaks da troof and is mocked;

QuoteI'm going on record:

The taterskins will lose big tomorrow.

Another prediction:

They will win a maximum of six games this year.

A third prediction:

They will be in worse shape when Gibbs leaves this time than the fist time.

Why am I so confident? It's simple. They have bad, old players, and no currency to get better players in the near future. In the past three years, Joe Gibbs, Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato have essentially stocked the roster with group that ON THE WHOLE that is middle of the road talent playing for elite money.

Here is the legacy of Gibbs 2:
- Champ Bailey and a 2nd for Clinton Portis
- Drafting Taylor, Rogers, Campbell in the first round
- A third round pick and a huge contract for Mark Brunell
- Big money deals to Shawn Springs, Marcus Washington, Cornelius Griffin, Andre Carter, Adam Archuletta, Casey Rabach, David Patten
- Traded draft picks for TJ Duckett, Brandon Lloyd, James Thrash
- Draft day trades for Cooley, Campbell and McIntosh
- Letting the following players leave through FA or a salary cap move: Smoot, Pierce, Royal, Clark, Walt Harris, Arrington and Trotter
- Re-signing Chris Samuels to a big money extension

Here's the good:
- Rogers, Taylor and Cooley appear to be very good draft picks
- There are indications that Golston may be a good value pick (I'm stretching here)
- McIntosh and Jason Campbell have not been on the field yet, but could plausibly contribute at some point
- Griffin, Washington and Springs were good signings
- Moss is great (however Coles is doing pretty darn well in NY now that Pennington is back)

Here's the bad:
- The left tackle is the foundation of an NFL offense and the taterskins are paying a top 15 player top 3 money. Samuels is also approaching 30.
- Mark Brunell is a horrible QB. He is being paid big money and is sucking up time that could be spent developing a young QB.
- The following Gibbs drafted players are no longer on the 53 man roster: Jared Newberry, Mark Wilson, Robert McCune, Manuel White, N. Broughton, Kili Lefotu, Kevin Simon ***Only 9 out of the 16 draft picks actually exercised by Gibbs are still on the roster. Three players are starters.
- Looking across all trades, here is the sum total -- Champ Bailey, one first round pick, two second round picks, four third round picks, two fourth round picks and a sixth round pick for the following: Clinton Portis, Jason Campbell, James Thrash, Rocky McIntosh, Brandon Lloyd, Mark Brunell and TJ Duckett. Out of that haul, only three players are starters – Portis is the only elite player.
- Letting Antonio Pierce go to a division rival
- Letting Fred Smoot go
- Paying Archuletta $30mm to replace Ryan Clark who would have cost half that
- Giving big money to Andre Carter
- Giving a contract to Michael Barrow
- Not trading Ramsey to the Jets during last season

The reality is that the taterskins have few draft picks left next year, and little money to spend on free agents. If they're lucky, they'll be ably to re-sign their budding star TE and their best offensive lineman (Dockery). After that, they'll be little money to spend on the secondary, d-line and o-line. Mediocre and/or aging players like Rabach, Daniels, Jansen, Carter and Thomas will continue to hold their starting jobs without competition as the few moves that can be made will go towards plugging the BIG holes and backup spots will continue to be manned by sub-quality talent.

Think back to preseason. Game plans were vanilla and teams went "mano a mano" without help from scheme. The taterskins first, second and third string players were soundly beaten in all four games. This was a solid indicator of how poor the roster was. Starting tomorrow, it will become even more obvious that the 2006 taterskins are at best a .500 team, that is closer to fading into irrelevance than to winning a Super Bowl.

Mock me if you wish, but I'm going on record. In two months you'll see that I was right

I've been saying that since last year. The Skins are just plain baaaad, and worse with a over the hill qb. So much for all the bullcrap talk about the NFC East being so much better.

ice grillin you

brunnell is born again and a full fledged member of the gawd squad....he isnt going anywhere...he couldnt buy a job in the league and gibbs gives him 25 mil??...think about it

Some of the Skins fans were saying that last year - that the only reason Joe got him was because they both can thump the bible with the best of 'em.

Sgt PSN

I didn't know Brunnell was a bible thumper.  If he was able to get a $25mil contract maybe this whole Jesus thing really works.  hmmmmmm.

QuoteBold Prediction

I could be completely wrong, but I have a feeling that this game isn't going to be like anything anyone expects

I think the Skins will not only win but score more than 21 points, and win by at least 10 points.

It's not just a homer feeling.

I think the Skins have too much speed on offense and the OL will have a big game against the Jags DL, which will give Brunell time to throw, and Give Portis lanes to get big yardage, because the Jags crowd the line and if he can get past the first wave, it could be "off to the races"

You also see the defense getting better each week, I think this week, they eliminate the stupid penalties on 3rd down, and are able to pressure Leftwich and his slow windup motion, and clay feet. Our D is the most physical they've played so far, IMO

I also have a feeling the Jags will be on an emotional let down after losing to the Colts yet again, and may take the Skins lightly because of the slow start and just beating the Texans last week.

If we can get a lead and force them into a game of catchup, and not controlling the clock with their run game, we can take them out of their game and beat them... If we can control the clock like last week... but that is a big if

PhillyGirl

I want everyone on this board who has called me a homer to take it back.

My levels of homerism don't even come close to Skins fans and you all know it.

They have redefined the "homer" category.

You're the original homer.  Sure, these guys may have taken it to the next level but you it was only because of your inspirational guidance.  If homerism were the force, you'd be Yoda and Skins fans would be Anikin Skywalker.
