Damn.

Best we can hope for is a playoff now.

It's a good thing the Phils scored all those runs.  I'm glad they didn't waste them beating the Nats.

QuoteOlsen 'hates' the Phillies

Scott Olsen makes no secret of his dislike for the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Marlins' brash rookie says he ''hates'' them and would enjoy nothing more than to bring about their elimination from the wild-card race. He will have some say in the matter today when he faces the Phillies in his final start of the season.

''I don't want to see them do it,'' Olsen said. ``We've already seen the Mets do it [clinch a playoff berth]. I don't want to see them do it, too.''

Not that he needed the extra motivation, but Olsen said he saw cases of champagne being wheeled into a storage room near the Phillies' clubhouse on Friday.

''I think if we beat them all three [games in the series], we should get that champagne,'' he said.

Olsen might want to consider his personal safety when he steps into the batter's box. The Phillies still might be sore about last Sunday's game, when Olsen struck Abraham Nuñez with a pitch in the ribs just after he had given up his third home run in a blowup third inning.

Olsen was ejected immediately and fined this week by Major League Baseball. Also receiving a league fine: Marlins pitcher Brian Moehler, who struck Phillies star Ryan Howard on Saturday, then told reporters after the game that he did so in retaliation for teammate Miguel Cabrera being struck the inning before.

Despite those incidents, Marlins manager Joe Girardi said he doesn't think there is any special hatred between the division rivals.

''I wouldn't say it's bad blood,'' Girardi said. ``No one's been hurt. I don't think it's been out of control.''

I hope Lieberthal tackles his punk ass

The one time i was proud of Lieby was when a batter went after one of the phils pitches and Lieby tackled him down better than Simoneau could(i know igys grandmother can tackle better than sims)  I just hope the phils rock this kid with a line drive.

Why do the Phillies need that?  ??? Would be better if they wheeled some 151 out to the fans so they can forget that this choke job ever happened.

If the Phils donated 8 of those runs to 3 different games we'd be in the playoffs.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

it really is amazing how closely this year resembles last year.....reason #17 why no one should have ever thought the phillies had a chance at the wild card

Nah.  At least there's some promise for next year this time.

We pretty much had nothing to look forward to except Ryan Howard and Chase Utley coming into the season.

Both are up by 2 runs. Looking like tommorrow will be meaningless.
