Looks like were missing Oswalt, but getting Clemens and Pettitte for the Astros series. Good thing is, the first game is against Wandy Rodgriguez, so we have a great chance to finally beat them and not deal with a top pitcher.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Takes Ryan Franklin one pitch to end a 16-inning marathon.   :-D

Reds lose.  SD wins.  Phillies .5 back.

Oh, and will the Marlins please stop winning?  Thanks.

SunMo

actually, the Phillies are tied if the Reds lost.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Actually, the Phillies are 1/2 game behind the Padres.

From Elias sports bureau:

QuoteRyan Howard drove in three runs in the Phillies' win, raising his MLB-leading total to 125 RBI, including 38 during August. That's the most RBI by any player in any month since Jim Thome drove in 39 runs for the Indians in July 2001.

Is there any doubt that the Phillies will cheap out on him and lose him to free agency in a couple of years?

P.S.  The "Baseball Tonight" crew says that Burrell is the key to the Phillies getting over the hump into the playoffs.  Pat was actually clutch with that bases-loaded hit to give the Phils the 2-0 lead last night.  Props.

PhillyPhreak54

I'd agree with that.

Pat has to give Howard protection. If he's doing what he normally does then teams will pitch around Howard. If Pat's hitting well they have to pitch to Howard.

The pitch must have been out of the strike zone.  If it were a strike, he would have just stared at it.

Don't know. But I do know that Fred Lynn was the last (and only?) player to win both in the same season (1975)

What a pathetic league. The Phils suck balls for the first 4 months of the year, then decide to get their shtein together and magically by the end of the month are right there for the wild card. If they somehow make the playoffs with Abraham Nunez, Mike Lieberthal and that old fossil Jamie Moyer, the world will end. Go Phils.

You love it.

You've got your Lieby jersey ready for the WC round.

Every Jewish Phillies fan has a Lieby jersey, right?
