Heard something interesting on the Nats broadcast.

Apparently Lieberthal is willing to:

1.  Sign for significantly less next season, and
2.  Be the backup catcher "if necessary."

Thoughts?

Sgt PSN

If they were talking about him playing for the Nats then I'm all for it.

Geowhizzer

Whoops, forgot to add that part:

Apparently, it's very important for Lieberthal to end his career with the Phils.

Sgt PSN

Then what's he still hanging around for?  It's been over for like 5 years.

Jesus Christ Ryan Howard takes some super-steroids.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

That one ties Schmidt for the club record - with a month to go in the season.  :o

The BIGSTUD

This guy is absolutely amazing.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Schmidt is my all time favorite player and I'm happy and sad to know his record is about to not only fall, but get obliterated.

Yeah, I was kind of sweating that in Jim Thome's first year here because he was knocking them out of the park left and right.  And I loved Thome but did not want to see him break that mark....especially not in his first year.

I suppose seeing Howard break this record will be easier to deal with in 10 years if he's still a Phillie.

ice grillin you

schmidt is great i love him and he deserves all that hes gotten but ryan howard poops all over him and deserves the record...schmidt only held it cause the in team competition was horrible

I'm in full agreement, Sarge.  Schmidt was/is my favorite as well, and it's good to see that a home-grown talent, and seemingly a nice kid, is the one to get it.

And then, realizing that Schmidt set the record 26 years ago makes me feel damn old.

Good win tonight. Too bad Fultz had to make it semi-interesting in the 9th.
