10-1

They were winning that game 10 to fricken 1.   ???

Eh - a win's a win, though.   :-\

Jeez. On the bright side, were about the pass Arizona and San Diego. World Series here we come.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Reading these posts was high comedy, especially knowing the end result.

Somehow the Nationals managed to withstand the Phillies's trying to hand them over the game.

Jamie Moyer = WORLD SERIES, BABY!  :deion

Of course, the Phils have just as good a chance of any other NL team of being the sacrifical lamb to whatever AL team ends up going to the Series, provided they make the playoffs.

The Phils do NOT have as good a chance as any other NL team.  They're not even THAT good.

They have as good a chance of any NL team.  The Mets just lost not just their number 1, but also their number 2 pitcher.  The Cardinals have been one of the worst teams in baseball since the all-star break, and were even swept by the Fightins.  The Dodgers have been red hot, but will they stay that way?  Them and the rest of the NL West are around .500, just like the Phils.

Winning the National League pennant is a phyrric victory this season.  That team will be annihilated by whatever team wins the ALCS.  The Phils have as good a chance of any, provided they make the playoffs.  Not because the Phils are that good.  Because the NL is that mediocre- just like the Phils.

Mets - Pedro - Glavine = Phils win the East.  Book it.

Based on what?

Look at who they have to play the rest of the season, IGY.  Most of the games they have left to play are against teams with losing records.

When Gordon returns, they won't have any significant injuries to speak of and they have five solid starting pitchers.

They're destroying the ball offensively as well.  They can get real healthy down the stretch and win a ton of games.  Once they do that and get to the playoffs, then all bets are off.

I don't expect them to do it because I'm a cynical prick but to say they have less of a shot than any of the other teams is simply incorrect on your part.

Reading is fundamental, IGY:

Based on what?

Based on math. They have to play better than 3 teams ahead of them to even make the playoffs. They have to additionally fend off the 2 or 3 teams that are right behind them in the wild card standings. Therefore, the mathmatical chances of them making the playoffs, let alone accomplishing anything if they do make it in, are minimal.

Plus they're the Phillies and they suck hind tit.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

How the farg would you know?  You're not even a baseball fan, rjs.

Try watching a game once in a while and then get back to me.

Dumb ass.

No one here saw Match Point, yet everyone had an opinion on it.  What's the difference with rjs and baseball?

That was the most ridiculous moment on this board in a long time.

I happen to believe that the Phils will make the playoffs and promptly get bitch slapped right back out again.
