I think it was because he's black and 'smooth'. White people hate that, and white people love baseball.

This is clearly an issue of marketing and racism. Clearly.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

MURP

that does suck, IGY.  Reynolds was great.   Wonder what the hell he did to get canned.

im goin with sexual harrassment

you're probably right, here are some secondhand accounts from people close to espn

QuoteThirdhand info, but I'm told it's sexual harassment. There were allegations of inappropriate actions between him and female PAs on a couple different occasions, so I'm not entirely shocked.

• It's apparently sexual harassment, but no one knows who the victim was. It went down over the course of the weekend.

• I have on good authority that HR was fired for all things, hitting on girls. Allegedly, this has been going on for a while. The last straw was when a new PA was having none of what Harold had to offer and turned him in.

• Harold Reynolds was fired more or less for copious amounts of sexual harassment. Apparently, he brazenly hits on female employees constantly, despite the fact that his wife just had a kid six months ago. He was warned by the big-wigs on numerous occasions to cool it with the ladies, but someone finally lodged a complaint, and he was canned immediately.

• It's very difficult to get fired from ESPN. It takes multiple offenses ... they're usually so worried about getting sued for unlawful termination that people are suspended multiple times for the same repeated behavior before it finally comes to getting fired. Within the walls of the campus, there are only a few on-air talent guys that had an honest reputation as being overly friendly with the ladies, and HR was one of them.

Crossroids

Someone on the deadspin messageboard says that Harold was even flirting on the air with reporter Danyelle Sargent.  Anyone else catch this?  (pre-emptive finger to any board rat who wants to get cute with me...  ::) )

PoopyfaceMcGee

I knew as soon as I heard about it this morning that it had something to do with him being a hornball.

mark prior was throwing a no-hitter in the sixth inning.

The Milwaukee Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Texas Rangers as part of a multi-player deal, ESPN.com learned Friday.

The Brewers are sending Lee, minor-league outfield prospect Nelson Cruz and a player to be named later to the Rangers for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix.

Both teams are checking for any medical issues before consummating the deal.

Interesting deal.  At one point, Nix was the top prospect in the Rangers' system.  I believe he also was the Florida State League MVP when he played for the Charlotte farm team in 2002.

Of course, he has yet to do squat at the major league level.  But he's got that dreaded word, potential.

Mench is a decent OF with power.

Cordero was an all-star closer a year (or was it two?) ago, but has fallen on hard times.

it all comes down to whether the rangers can resign lee

im guessing they already have spoken to him about it...if not come to an agreement already
