That depends on the wording of his contract. Technically, since he was released, the club could still be responsible for paying the balance of the contract, as MLB contracts are generally guaranteed.

Believe me, I don't think Grimsley deserves a red cent of that money. I'm just not as sure as you that it's cut and dried that he won't get it.

I have many of his rookie and 2nd year cards, including the famous Upper Deck #1. I wonder how much some of these are worth now that his career's been a "disappointment".
