Rome

That's a long way for senior citizens, big boy.

:-D

BTW: There is no public transportation to speak of over there.  They run busses and whatnot but no subways, no trains, no nothing.  And when I said 1/2 hour, that means without traffic (which there always is).  It would be like going from the northern suburbs of Philly and the only way to get to South Philly would be I-95.

Geowhizzer

Rome is right on this.

From each of the directions, there's basically one way in.  From the north or south, it's I-275, and going from the south, you have to cross a five-mile-long series of bridges (the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge) that is treacherous in any of the Florida summer monsoons.

Also, the traffic from the north is just ridiculous.  Worse than any I've seen, except D.C. and Atlanta and the Schuylkill.  When I go to Clearwater for spring training (which is north of the stadium), it takes me a good hour from the time I get on 275 to get to Clearwater- so they would take at least 40-45 minutes.  Longer during the rush hours.

I masturbate on the poor now. Why do you have to have been born in the dark ages to do that? I'm confused.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Well you my Sir Rjs, are a true gentleman.

Someday Ryan Howard is going to kill somebody with a line drive.  He hits that ball harder than just about anybody.

MDS

Hopefully that person is Terrell Owens.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Here is an interesting question.

If one person was going to get hit and killed by a Ryan Howard line drive, who would you rather have it be?

A. Terrel Owens

B. Reno Mahe

C. Erudite Burrito

Ryan Franklin starts next time. I'm scared.

Speaking of The Arsonist, here's a blurb from today's Inky:

QuoteAll right now

The suspicious absence of righthander Ryan Franklin from the mound was explained yesterday.

Franklin had suffered from stiffness in his lower right shoulder since May 30, the day after he last pitched before he made a meaningless appearance in Tuesday night's blowout. He had recovered by Sunday, he said.

"I was getting mad at them for not using me, but they said they wanted to give it a couple more days," said Franklin.

He returned to the bullpen this season after logging three straight high-inning years as a starter with Seattle. This forced layoff, the Phillies think, is a bump in the road as Franklin reconditions himself to the rigors of bullpen work.

He said the stiffness, which he never felt before, did not affect him in any of his previous 25 appearances, in which he was an inconsistent 1-4 with a 5.11 earned run average

He was mad? Ha. What a dope.

Phillies pinch hitters are 17-for-111, according to the Nats announcers.

Soriano destroys one off of Franklin. Good god is he awful.
