i understand shtein happens and jail isnt supposed to be a pretty place....but the systemic torture that is blatantly allowed to go on in prison is wrong and nothing less than cruel and unusual punishment...the guards are as much criminals as the prisoners

Ha.  Difference is, America can control the policy that allows prison rape to flourish.  America can't control what individual criminals do...it can only punish them after the fact, by putting them in prison.

It would be simple to stop prison rape.  But it would cost money that is going to bombs and corporate profits instead.  It would take hiring more guards and paying them better.  It would take limiting the number of prisoners.

It would take things that will never happen because people are greedy and dumb, and people don't think prisoners are citizens, or even human.  People like that prison means rape.  They think it's great.  They think it's justice, American style.

That makes me sick.

whew, thanks for that.   i'll disregard the personal stories of people that i know who have been to jail and also everything i've read in the paper and take your buddies word for it.  you know, because i'm sure they're not biased either.

i'm sure most of them are trying to do good, but the temptations are there for them as much as the prisoners.  you can't say they're all saints.

You're a joke. Part of a "zookeeper's" job is to keep the animals from fighting, killing and mutilating each other.

You can justify their disgusting behavior anyway you want, but to glorify the job they do, when the prison system is what it is, is reprehensible.

I like Phreak and I don't like the fact that he's going to have to jump in here and defend what he does, but the truth is that when prison gaurds allow shtein like this to happen, over and over again, they have become a huge part of the problem and are no better than the criminals they are tasked with controling.
