Thanks, Billy Bob. But I was in the Poconos over the weekend with your type, so I coulnd't have done that. Not that I wouldn't want to....
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QuoteWolf makes first extended spring start since surgery
Associated Press

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Randy Wolf struck out five of seven batters Monday in his first extended spring training game since undergoing elbow surgery last summer.

Wolf faced two former major-leaguers -- first baseman Erubiel Durazo and catcher Ben Davis -- who are playing for the New York Yankees' extended spring team. Durazo struck out, and Davis got one of two singles off Wolf.

"I felt great," Wolf said. "It went a lot better than I thought it was going to go. The main thing I wanted to do was basically just go out there and throw strikes and mix my pitches a little bit. Get back into the mode of pitching, setting guys up, and I really felt like I accomplished that."

Wolf threw 19 of 26 pitches for strikes.

"Threw some good changeups," Wolf said. "Threw my curveball for strikes, fastballs for strikes where I wanted to. That's pretty much all I could ask for right now."

Wolf had ligament replacement surgery on his throwing elbow last July 1. He is scheduled to pitch in another extended spring game Saturday and could rejoin the Phillies in early July.

Good, get the hell out Gavin Floyd.

Quotecould rejoin the Phillies in early July.

Barring any "setbacks," of course.

More than likely, Wolf will not be back in full form until next season.

He's still better than Floyd. In fact, if Madson's next start is good, I'd rather have him in the roation than Floyd. Send Floyd back to AAA and try to trade him. He could be good down the road, but we don't really have the time to let him suck every 5th day.

why?  you actually think they're winning something this year?  this is the perfect oppurtunity to let Gavin get his head beat in every 5th day
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Lieber injured himselfs on a comeback to the mound. Strained his groin. Out of the game after two hits and a run given up. Condrey is replacing him. 2-1 Phills in the top of the third.

A strained groin can really suck for a pitcher. Leiber to the DL = teh suk.

Jesus. Condrey just made a sweet move to pick off Byrd at first. Howard has him dead to rights in a run down, and throws the farging ball into the outfield. Absolute little league farging mistake. Wasn't even looking at second and gunned the ball. Game tied when the runner scores on Howard's errant throw. Rollins makes a nice over-the-shoulder catch to end the inning.

Not sure about that.  Wolf never had an overpowering fastball- this season he may top out at the low-80s.

Wolf has been good since about 2001, when healthy. At least better than Floyd. Not sure how effective he can be anymore, let alone this season coming off the injury. But he certainly deserve a chance, and right now the guy to go should be Floyd.

Man. Ryan Howard makes up for his bungles almost every time. Three run shot to put the Phils ahead five to two. If they can get the kid's head right when he is in the field, just so he becomes an "average" first basemen, he'll be an all-star for years to come. I really think after watching him for awhile, most of the mistakes are mental ones. He just seems to lose focus or concentration. I understand he doesn't have great range, but I am talking about the plays that he should make.

Kid is a beast though. Everytime I start to get down on him, he hits a monster shot.

Condrey's night is over, I thought the guy did a pretty good job tonight. Had nice movement and control, kept the sinker and the offspeed stuff low in the zone.

Nice to see the Fightins breaking out a bit offensively.

Hopefully Lieber's groin isn't too badly hurt.  Not that it probably matters much.

Hamels threw 2 innings, 15 pitches each inning, in a simulated game today.  His last pitch was hit out by Lieberthal, but other than that embarassment, he's fine.  He'll have a rehab start in Lakewood on Thursday....

Ryan Franklin out to try to not blow a 9-run 9th inning lead.
