Pedro vs Josh Johnson = Mets W
Glavine vs Willis = hmm
El Duque vs Ricky Nolasco = probably a Mets W

Let's see here...

The Mets traded Kris Benson for Jorge Julio. Then they traded Jorge Julio for El Dookie.

Benson > The Dook

The Mets also traded Jae Seo to LA.

Now they have been trying Alay Soler, Jeremi Gonzalez (DFA'd after yesterday) and they traded for Dave Williams.

Is Minaya a smart man? It appears not.

DH

IMO, Duque=Benson. The BOB is a hitters park so you can throw this years stats out. Plus, his post-season experience dwarfs that of Julio or Benson for that matter. Tading Julio for Hernandez was a great deal; even Phillies fans can't deny that.

Seo was traded for Sanchez. I challenge you to find another reliever besides BJ Ryan who has been as dominating as Duaner has been this year. He has had 1 bad inning all year, but besides that he has been lights out. I would take Sanchez over Seo any day of the week.

And how about the Delgado deal? Mike Jacobs is hitting a robust .220, while Carlos is carrying the team on his back. You also failed to mention Lo Duca who was traded for peanuts...the guy's been the on field leader all year long. That stuff is immeasurable.

Jeremi Gonzalez was traded tonight too. Is the starting pitching situation ideal? Not really, but the point is Minaya sees weaknesses and he addressed them. To me, that makes him a smart man.

I really don't count any Marlins trades. They were giving players away. All Omar had to do was say "I want Delgado and LoDuca. You can have any prospects not named Lasting Milledge".

I would prefer to have Benson over El Duque. Hernandez has played well in the playoffs, but he's 36 years old. And he hasn't really been a stud since 1998/1999. He was good in NY in 2004 after being out of baseball in 2003.

And why trade starting pitching when you have Pedro whose toe was problematic in the spring and is getting up there in age? And Glavine isn't exactly a youngin' either.

Seo or Benson should've been kept. And getting Julio was a leap of hope too because he was crap last year in Baltimore.

My whole point was that he's picking up guys off the scrap heap when he already had two solid SP's that he dealt away. Duaner has been very good. But what good is he compared to a starting pitcher? Give me the solid staff 1-5 and I'll piece a BP together behind Wags.
