Anyhow - read that Jevon is down to 245 after intense workouts in the offseason. Not that he's ever been a huge liability against the run before - but man that's light for someone his size.

I predict huge things from Darren Howard and the inside force this year and hope Jevon's weight isn't a factor for him. Speed is important but he needs to hold the point of attack wherever he lines up.

Good to be here...

Welcome.  245 does sound a little low.  We'll see.  It's not like he was kicking much ass last year, so maybe this works..

ice grillin you

he isnt here to play the run...hes here to break qb's and in the process cause fumbles...at his heaviest he cant play the run...so id rather him be at 245 if it means he gets his burst back

Exactly.  Last year, he actually played the run fairly well.  Possibly, it was because he bulked up knowing that he'd have to pick up slack for the OLB's.  I dunno.  Either way, Trent Cole's at 265+ now, Howard goes at least 275, McDougle is 260+... I don't care if Kearse plays light as long as he can be more disruptive than he has been for the Eagles so far.

* yeah man...been this since forever. Philly.com back then had a nice community - then they changed it and it was awful. Anyway - good to be here brother...

I agree he needs to be a pass rusher - but let's not overlook that he is on the 1st team and will be on the field all three downs in some way shape or form for the $ he gets.

No question McDougle hopefully can get rollin and Cole is a specialist that excels with less snaps...but Kearse needs to hold up. I think moving him around will definitely help this and I've never seen him as a "liability" but that's freaking light....I love our d-line right now.

ice grillin you

i think moving him around is a mistake...he needs to be a dominant edge rusher nothing less nothing more...this joker crap to me is basically admitting that he doesnt have what it takes to get it done from the outside anymore

* Reggie White moved around constantly to cause mismatches - how'd that work out for the Packers?  :paranoid

BIG_PHILLY

Or what? Dude - you are talking about moving him around. Teams move guys like Kearse around to create mismatches all the time. I'm not stupid enough to compare them talentwise - but as far as how your top DE around to create major problems - this is very comparable.

ice grillin you

they moved him around for the last two years and hes been underwhelming at best...it doesnt work...hes not the kind of player that can move inside or play linebacker...hes an edge rusher...period...

in 2004 i blamed jj for being to cute with him and trying to outsmart himself by putting him in areas where didnt belong...but after last year i tend to lean towards kearse not being able to get off the edge anymore...tho i still give him the benefit of the doubt as the ends opposite him have been terrible

now that they have howard there no more excuses...both for kearse not to produce and for jj not to have him on the edge all the time
