I think that almost anyone should be able to run effectively behind this line. I think Andy clearly addressed the running game with the picks of Justice & Gilles.

he wont 'clearly' address it until he actually runs the ball

From Charles Robinson:

Philadelphia Eagles

High marks – The Eagles cleaned up for the second straight season, getting talent and value from the top of the draft to the bottom. Brodrick Bunkley should add to a top-notch defensive tackle rotation, and getting offensive tackle Winston Justice in the second round was highway robbery. Defensive end Chris Gocong is a smart, high-motor guy who could end up being a steal in the third round. Massive guard Max Jean-Gilles should be a future starter, and wide receivers Jason Avant and Jeremy Bloom will be great special teamers who could blossom into productive wideouts. Even linebacker Omar Gaither and defensive tackle LaJuan Ramsey should make the team and give the Eagles good depth down the line.

Low marks – Running back is the only area that could have used some kind of attention depth-wise.

Final grade: A

For the rest of the NFC East:

Dallas C+
New York C+
Washington C

Eagles got the same GPA as I graduated with.  Super.

USA Today's Jarrett Bell:

QuotePhiladelphia Eagles

Andy Reid still loves big fellas. First-round DT Brodrick Bunkley has been compared to Warren Sapp. OT Winston Justice and G Max Jean-Gilles, both of whom were projected to go higher, could become building blocks for the O-line of the future.

Coming out last year, Patterson had been nicknamed "baby Sapp"...  Sapp may be a clown off the field, but having two of him at DT would not be a bad thing at all.

hunt

wow...you're so smart.

anyway, here's what the guy who gave the eagles a C said:

Quote22. Philadelphia: The Eagles did a solid job, but fans must remember that USC tackle Winston Justice was reminded who he had to block in the national championship game on that critical fourth down and still messed up. The perception is that the Eagles stole him in the second round with the 39th overall pick. They definitely reached on Cal Poly SLO linebacker Chris Gocong while defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley was a no-brainer in the first round. Coach Andy Reid likes skier Jeremy Bloom as a kick returner and slot receiver in a spread formation. Michigan WR Jason Avant has some potential, but no one should confuse him with Terrell Owens. Grade: C

I think the criticism of the Justice pick would be warranted only if they took him at #14.  The guy is certainly a boom/bust guy, but if he plays to even a shred of his potential, he'll be a solid OT in the NFL for many years.  At #39, a guy with the kind of good production and top-shelf talent he possesses is a steal.

Bunkley at #14 and Jean-Gilles at #99 alone make the draft a C at least, so if he hates the rest of the picks, that's fair.

czarnecki before the draft said this....

Justice's superb pro day effort has his stock skyrocketing as the draft approaches. The Lions started former seventh-round pick Kelly Butler at right tackle last year and though he performed adequately, Justice would provide an immediate upgrade.

Is this the same guy who wrote the comment in hunt's post?

That makes no sense, unless the guy is truly a Philly hater.

i think what happened is justice dropped and he figured there must be a reason and that reason wasnt good...therefore bad pick

The BIGSTUD

The analysts on ESPN said they thought from breaking down tape that Justice was the most NFL ready OT in the draft. Even more than Ferguson. They said he had better technique. I don't breakdown tape of offensive lineman, so I can't really agree or disagree. We'll just have to wait and see.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

My sincere apologies if this was already posted.  From covers.com stating birds are one of 5 teams to watch along with Arizona, Cleveland, Miami and New Orleans.

Last year was nothing short of a nightmare in Philadelphia after a Super Bowl appearance and four straight trips to the NFC Championship game. The Eagles finished 6-10 straight up, 5-11 against the spread, winning only two games after Donovan McNabb went down with a season-ending injury. The Terrell Owens induced quagmire isn't likely to continue through 2006, and Philly has all the makings of a loaded team playing with a collective chip on its shoulders.

Head coach Andy Reid went back to work rebuilding his offensive and defensive lines this offseason and strength up front was the foundation on which Philly made the postseason for five consecutive years from 2000 to 2004. The Eagles inked free agent defensive end Darren Howard and drafted defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley from Florida State in the first round. The draft day additions of offensive linemen Winston Justice from USC and Max Jean-Gilley from Georgia should give McNabb the protection that he needs to stay healthy enough to get the Eagles back to the playoffs in 2006.
