Bunkley at 14 was awesome. They knew what they were doing when they didnt trade up for a DT. This guy is a steal at 14 and is going to be huge for the defense. Tons of sacks this year. We have probably 5 or 6 guys that could get 5 sacks this year. Bunkley and Patterson will get constant pressure up the middle, I just hope Bunkley doesnt blow out a knee.

Justice at pick 39 is awesome. I was so surprised he fell that far. There were so many times where it seemed like a lock that he would have been taken. Eagles get two top 15 players.

I didnt like the Gocong pick at first, but then realized he'd play SLB. Then I loved the pick. He has some trouble shedding blocks though, but he'll get better. I dont think its out of the question that he will start this year, although not likely. He'll dominate STs for now.

I always thought Max Jean-Gilles was overrated. When I saw him in the beginning of the year he was real inconsistent. I dont care one bit, getting him at pick 99 is a steal. Overrated doesnt mean he sucks.

I do like the Avant pick, and I dont like it. I like it because it shows the Eagles want to win now. He probably has the lowest bust potential, besides Mike Hass. He wont ever turn out to be great, but he will be real solid.

I love the Jeremy Bloom pick. He will be a beast on kickoffs and punts. He is so ridiculously quick. Skiing will have helped him, he's really good at staying on his feet. In 2 years at Colorado, he had 5 TDs that were 75+ yards. Reid said they're going to try to work him into WR too.

Gaither is fine. He could play all 3 LB positions. Didnt like it at first, I just dont like LBs from the SEC. No reason why, but I think he'll be alright. Jason Short is gone.

Didnt like the Ramsey pick much, I'd rather have Rod Wright because if he gets his shtein together he can be real good. Would have rather had a QB or RB. Mike Bell hasnt even been picked yet.

Grade : A

I think this team needs a guy who can come in and contribute right now. I think the long-term solution with WR for us is through other means.

If the Eagles had only selected Bunkley & Justice the grade would have been an A.  Adding Gocong & Jean-Gilles were strokes of genius on their part.  I loved the Bloom pick too and was satisfied with the Avant pick as well.  I wanted Brandon Marshall but Avant played in front of 100,000+ every weekend at Michigan and was highly productive as a senior there.  The more I think about it, Avant was a better selection than Marshall.

An absolutely spectacular draft.  It could turn out to be one of the best ever for the Birds.

Final Grade: A+

This pick right here is what makes this an A draft for me.  I was sitting in my chair when they came up for this pick saying:"pick Bloom, pick Bloom."  I literally jumped out of my chair when they took him.  His value as a number 4 receiver is underrated here too.

All I have to say about this pick and why I like it is: Farg you Dhani.  Farg you for flicking off my brother, farg you for strumming your goddamn banjo, farg you for dancing in the streets, and farg you for sucking.  GOODBYE.

This draft would have been an A+ of they had drafted a QB but thats something that can be addressed later.

I'd like to see the list of developmental QB's after the draft is over.  If I see the words "Marcus Vick" and "Eagles" in the same sentence, I will not be a happy camper, however.

No to Vick and Basanez.  Vick for obvious reasons and Basanez has a noodle for an arm.

I give em an A also.  I sure as hell didn't expect them to get Justice after the first round.  Moving guys like Hollis and Hicks helped pave the way for other players.

One of the many reasons to hate WIP is on the air right now. Charry is ripping the Eagles for not getting Javon Walker. He said they should've packed their 2nd and other picks to get him.  :-D

B+ for now.  Let's see how everything fits together....

Eaglez

true, but I think everyone is rating off projected potential, and looking down the line the Eagles got a lot of talent and value moreso than in recent years past.

I'd give the draft an A. The Eagles were agressive in trading up multiple times and keeping the war room busy to secure players that they truly wanted. You could tell the effort was there in the Eagles war room to make something happen this year, and secure as much talent as possible to make a run this season.

Just looking at the current talent on the roster the Eagles turned the D-Line into one of the weakest parts of the team into arguably the strongest, and they sured up the O-Line and added a lot of young talent in Justice and Jean-Gilles to push veterans as well as learn from then in years to come.

The Eagles really solidified both lines, which are really the cornerstones to any good team in the NFL. Getting people who can move the chains like Avant and getting a solid kick/punt returner in Bloom can help the field position battle and put points on the board.  :yay

On potential I give this draft an A, hopefully they will live up to that potential. I'm also hoping Gocong is good, and I'm more re-assured that the Patriots were pursuing him, because I am excited about the prospects of him being a Mike Vrabel type player, who can line up on the line and rush off the edge standing up to make plays.

BobbyT

A big A for sure.Would have liked Stovall thrown in there but can see the logic behind not getting him as well.

Bring on the june 1st cuts. :yay

This draft was by far the best since 2002 and it could be the best ever for Reid. They got a disruptive pass rushing DT who is built like a brick shteinhouse in the first. A position of need to go along with Bunkley being the best rated guy on the board at the time.

The pick of Justice at 39 was awesome. He was projected to be a #1 pick and he dropped. Now he'll be pissed off and come in with a chip on his shoulder to knock people out moreso than if he had been a #1 - just to prove himself.

The Gocong pick is a solid one and it fits with what every Eagles fan said we needed - playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. So we have a potential replacement for Dhani who also can rush from the edge and dominate on STs.

Max Jean-Gilles was a steal in the 4th. With Hicks being traded it opens up the competition for LG. And as much as I liked Artis, he sucked last year. Sucked real bad. So Todd Herremans, Winston Justice, MJG and Adrien Clarke will compete for the LG spot and maybe MJG can give Jackson a run at C.

Jason Avant and Jeremy Bloom address the WR depth and Bloom gives them a solid PR and KR guy to pair with Bruce Perry. I wasn't too high on Avant but we'll see how he works out. He's got some size and he could be one of those guys, like Gocong, who is just a football player. Who cares about the numbers when you can make plays.

Omar Gaither addresses the STs and LB depth and LaJuan Ramsey is a nice project DT from USC.

Overall this was an excellent two days for the Birds. I would've liked to see a QB and RB though. But UDFA is something to watch for too.

1st Round 14th overall - Brodrick Bunkley - DT - Florida State - 6'0 307
2nd Round 39th overall - Winston Justice - OT - USC - 6'6 320
3rd Round 71st overall - Chris Gocong - LB/DE - Cal Poly - 6'2 264
4th Round 99th overall - Max Jean-Gilles - OG - Georgia - 6'5 355
4th Round 108th overall - Jason Avant - WR - Michigan - 6'0 213
5th Round 147th overall - Jeremy Bloom - WR/RS - Colorado - 5'9 172
6th Round 168th overall - Omar Gaither - LB - Tennessee - 6'1 233
6th Round 204th overall - LaJuan Ramsey - DT - USC - 6'2 296

My grade: solid A

You could have added my kids preschool class after Jean-Gilles, and still rate this draft an A.
Anyone but Reid.

fansince61

A-...needed a GOOD FB..otherwise excellent ;D

Displaced

Well I got home from church and fell asleep and missed the entire second day.

Imagine my surprise to see that Brandon Marshall went off the board to another team.

Imagine my surprise to see that the Eagles were able to drop some meat and get two very solid picks in Max Gene-Gillis and Jason Avant.

These are excellent day two picks in that they were both graded to be day one guys.

ARand Co. have done an incredible job this weekend and I dare say the best they have had yet and these guys drafted Donniie Mc and Corey Simon.

Overall I don't think we have ever seen this much tallent throughout the draft top to bottom in I don't know how many years.

Everybody that was on thid roster last year is on notice.

I wasn't very enamored with the Gocong pick, thinking they must have had a scout go see the kid who said he was the top tallen from a small school this year, but I think it was the unfamiliarity that made most of us balk, in reality very few of us knew anything about him until he was picked.  I don't like to see a project at SAM and hope Emmons shakes loose but the kid if he is as fast and physical as advertized will be at least a beast on specials.

The grade is A.
