Doesn't really make sense that they took another DT.  Whatever, isn't he practive squad expanded that is what this guy has written all over him.

QuoteLaJuan Ramsey
DT | (6'25/8", 296, 4.98) | USC

QuoteStrengths: Possesses good initial burst, reads keys fairly well and gets into position quickly. Possesses good upper body strength and flashes the ability to shed blocks quickly. Possesses adequate lower body strength and flashes the ability to anchor when teams run at him. Possesses adequate closing speed and flashes a variety of pass rush moves.

Weaknesses: Ramsey doesn't have elite size and he is inconsistent. Doesn't have great bulk, plays too high and has problems splitting double teams. Doesn't always use hands well and needs to continue to work on ability to shed blocks. Plays out of control and gets caught out of position. Though has good range for size doesn't give the same effort on every snap and isn't relentless in pursuit. Missed two games with a shoulder injury in 2003, underwent hernia surgery during the 2004 off-season and missed two games with an ankle injury in 2005.

Overall: Ramsey does a lot of things well but he isn't dominant in any one area, he isn't fundamentally sound and there are some concerns about his ability to stay healthy, which is why Ramsey grades out as a free agent prospect in the 2006 class.

If you just going to waste a pick why not trade it for one next year?  Im guessing they're waiting for FA for QBs,RBs

Maybe it's because you can't trade compensatory picks?

Just a thought.

It was a compensatory pick, can't trade those.

Still would've liked to see them take Riggs, but whatever

Ramsey is a nice project.

With Grasmanis on his way out and with Hollis traded, Ramsey gives them some depth. He'll probably be on the PS.
