Summer camp will be longer

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles will have to actually unpack their bags at Lehigh this summer.

After three very short training camps, the Eagles will be sequestered in Bethlehem, Pa., for nearly a month this summer.

"That's what happens when you go 6-10," one veteran player said.

Last summer's camp was less than two weeks. Veteran players, who report three days after rookies, had only nine days of camp.

But this year, thanks in part to head coach Andy Reid's desire for a longer camp and the addition of a fifth preseason game, the Eagles will be away longer than the last two camps combined.

Training camp is tentatively scheduled to begin on July 20 for rookies, returning injured players, quarterbacks and selected veterans. The rest of the roster is due to report three days later.

The Eagles were picked to play in this year's Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, which is scheduled for Aug. 6 — one week before most NFL teams begin their preseason.

Their second preseason game is Aug. 10 against the Browns at the Linc. They are expected to break camp on Aug. 16, which is the day before the third preseason game, at Baltimore.

It'd be a nice distraction from the Phillies if they're still sucking wind at that point.

And it will be nicer for the fans attending. More days and fewer wins means fewer visiting people per day. Hopefully.

thank god at least training camp is almost here. as much as I love the draft, this repetitive talk about players going in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th round, yet informative, is grueling to talk about over and over. Practice please

id take the draft over training camp and the fans who say matt mccoy is the second coming cause he had a strong morning session

More tedious than fans arguing over which potential draft pick would hypothetically be a pro-bowl player, like comic book geeks arguing over a Superman vs Batman outcome?

Superman

A layperson would say that, but everyone knows that Batman's superior intellect would allow him to fashion a weapon from kryptonite, thereby exposing Superman's only weakness.

Superman would just hang back out of the kryponite's hamful effects and blast Batman with his heat vision
