In his column today, ,he complains about McNabb saying he was frustrated with how the Eagles went about their FA spending early this year. From what I've seen on various message boards, it's either been, "It's about time he spoke up", or "It was taken out of context". Indeed, McCaffery doesn't use the whole McNabb quote--you know, where McNabb says that "we have a very good nucleus and the players we have added will be able to help us", or words to that affect. However, this quote from McCaffery--

"Depending upon the analysis of the salary cap at any given moment, it's possible to interpret that the Eagles tend toward frugal in personnel matters. But once a player takes a $112,000,000 bite from his company's personnel-funding pie, he has no right to come back for seconds."

He infers that McNabb wants his contract renegotiated. Now, even the hardened McNabb hater would have to admit that NO WHERE in that interview he did, did he say he wanted his contract renegotiated. So, I don't know where McCaffery got that from.

The BIGSTUD

Jack Mccaffery is the biggest dope of a writer I've ever seen in my life.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

im all for mcnabb stepping up and speaking out against the front office...this whole team is synthetically produced knockoffs of the coach and qb...the team has the personality of a soft serve vanilla ice cream cone...the cycle needs to be broken and mcnabb splitting off a little would be a great start

furthermore mcnabb needs to show he has some fire in him...one of the big concerns for me going into this year is mcnabbs psyche...is he going to be able to handle being under the hubble telecope that is the fans and media in philly this year...that right now is more important to me than any position on the field

I agree with you there--it's the point where he says ".But once a player takes a $112,000,000 bite from his company's personnel-funding pie, he has no right to come back for seconds."

He acts like McNabb wants his contract renegotiated--but no where in the interview did he even intimate that.

QB Eagles

I don't read that as saying that McNabb wants to renegoiate his contract. I read it as saying that McNabb doesn't have the right to tell the team how to spend the rest of its money.

It's a pretty dumb point, but hey, it's sportswriting, of course it's dumb.

Jack Mack is a dope. He's a dope on 950 and he was a dope on 610.

You should listen to him talk Phillies once in awhile. Brutal.
