Doesn't matter.  They are paying part of his salary because of the large buckets of money they had committed to him in a previous contract being too much for another team to take on after his barrage of injuries.

They're also paying Ryan Howard minimum wage and they're also paying Aaron Rowand's salary with the savings they're getting from dealing Thome.

It's almost the same thing as the dead cap money in the NBA and NFL.  The player isn't on the team but his pay still counts.

hes infintely better than floyd...again not saying much but it would make the rotation much better

in the end it wasnt trading padilla that was bad it was giving him away
