At least they won't face Hudson or Smoltz in this series...  :-\

PoopyfaceMcGee

Total of 2 wins on the season after this series what?

PhillyPhreak54

Shoot, Hudson and Smoltz were touched up a little bit themselves. All I know is that they might have lost more than they thought when Leo mazzone went to BAL. Outside of Villareal and that Ray dude, their pitching has sucked balls.

But either way, the Phils better get the bats going.

MDS

Congrats, they've put themselves in a must perform well situation for this mini road trip. In the second week of April. Yikes.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

Dude, its the Phillies. It wouldn't be the Phils if it wasn't a must win 6 games into the season.

ice grillin you

At least the Braves pitching sucks ass. And Larry Jones hurt his knee pretty bad today too

Gillick was on Sports Final last night.  one of the things that John Clark asked about was a report that the Phillies payroll went from 95 million last year to 88 million this year, something Howard had been saying.

Gillick said it's absolutely untrue and that their payroll is closer to 96 million.  He said that published report didn't take into account that they are paying 7 million of Jim Thome's contract.

so, it sounds like the payroll for their actual players is around 88 million but they are counting Thome's salary towards their budget, which is just wonderful.

I thought that was pretty much known.  The cash given in a trade has to come from somewhere....

SunMo

it shouldn't count against the player salaries budget

PoopyfaceMcGee

Where should it count?  It's a player's salary.

SunMo

not a player playing for them.  this isn't the salary cap, this is their budget, they decide what and how much gets spent where.

they should just eat that money and still have the money to spend in the players salary budget.
