well, one thing we know is that Spewdaro and the rest of his minions really dont know who the Eagles are going to take. That Chris McPherson or whatever his name is wrote about how he was just about to push the button to post an article on the Eagles website that they had drafted Khalif Barnes last year when they went ahead and took Mike Patterson.

Right now, no one knows who the Eagles will draft, including Ried. Too much can change. All the talk on the Eagles site is just guys trying to find something to write about, which can make for some interesting reading and gives you some insight on certain players. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like reading anything about football at this time of the year, even if it is far fetched rumors.

Oh, I agree that he's a hell of a player.  But for the Eagles to have any shot at him, they'd have to give up half of their draft picks to move up to get him.  That's not gonna happen.

1st, 3rd, and 4th to move, say, from 14 to 8.

Um, because Mike Huff is a pimp?

It would pretty much have to be a prerequisite of all Eagles fan pimps to have a "Huff" jersey.

Pimping???  Anything Spadaro says with respect to the draft is irrelevant and the website is just doing its little draft preview with articles about a bunch of draft prospects.  They've already done Sims and Fergueson.  We'll see a bunch more over the next few weeks.

just so we're clear, i was pimping Huff before his name was remotely associated with the Eagles

When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.

i had a clever response ready to post, but deleted it for fear of persecution.

go Eagles.

We're going to a spread gun secondary. Freak, Trott, Howard on the line and 8 Dbs.

Wow, that's really funny.

But seriously... who's the Eagles 6th best DB right now?  How many of their 5 best DB's are under contract past this season?  If you seek the answers to those questions, you'll see that the Eagles are very likely to pick up a DB of some sort fairly early in the draft.

Also, same kind of deal with OL.  You think they have strength in numbers... but how many great linemen of the future will be starting for the Eagles this year?  ONE.  Andrews.  Herremans may start and be OK, but he's not irreplaceable.

Honestly, this is why I see the Eagles picking DE (Kearse gone after no more than two seasons, Howard not getting any younger), OT (Thomas and Runyan are past their prime), or DB (for reasons I mentioned above).

Everyone else thinks DT or LB, but the three positions I mentioned are just as likely if you look at the past history of Andy Reid's drafts.

Rome

I agree about the OL thing, FF.

The interesting thing about this draft in terms of the Eagles position is that Reid has never shown any hesitance to trade up to get a guy he's after and this year, the Eagles are in a strange circumstance in that they start where they usually trade up to.

Is he thinking go for bust and trade all the way up inside the top five?  I don't know.

However, if Ferguson is still available when four picks have been made, I wouldn't be surprised to see Andy go for broke to get him.  I have no proof of this and it's sheer speculation on my part but I can't say I wouldn't be thrilled to see Ferguson in an Eagles jersey no matter what the cost would be.

D'Brick falling past 4 would be pretty much a dream scenario.  But the Packers could certainly use help on the offensive line and arguably moreso than the Eagles.  Plus, how are we supposed to pry both Javon Walker and the #5 pick from Green Bay?  That would be a tricky proposition.

we dont. Stay where we are at, take our pick for future playing time and get what we truly need NOW....JW....which will require some nifty negotiating of draft and future picks. Since I want that, that means the Eagles will move up and we wont get JW

but im no telling you anything you dont already know or has been written 93 times. So heres 94

I don't see Green Bay giving up Walker to the Eagles.  I'd be thrilled if they did but I'd rather have Ferguson any day over Walker.

Hell, if the Eagles had Ferguson, they could keep Greg Lewis in the lineup because McNabb would have 8-10 seconds on each down to throw the thing.
