The Eagles are downplaying their interest in Eric Moulds.
Eric Moulds' representatives initiated contact between the two sides, not the other way around. Philadelphia doesn't appear willing to meet his salary demands, much less send a draft pick. Mar. 29 - 12:16 am et

Is the San Jose Mercury-News really the best source for Eagles news?

What an excellent post. You should have been swallowed.

Walker 'not coming back' to Packers

Green Bay - What part of no don't the Green Bay Packers understand?

That's what Charles Goldsmith, Javon Walker's stepfather, wanted to know when he emphatically stated in a telephone interview this morning with the Journal Sentinel that the wide receiver will not ever play for the team again.

No amount of money, the passage of time or the possible retirement of quarterback Brett Favre, his adversary, will change Walker's mind, according to Goldsmith. He told general manager Ted Thompson in a 30-minute conversation Jan. 20 that his stepson was through with the Packers, but based on recent published comments from Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy, Goldsmith detected hope within the organization that the situation could be rectified.

"I wish this could have worked out better but he's not coming back," Goldsmith said. "He has so much animosity regarding Green Bay, it's ridiculous."

Goldsmith and his wife, Bernita, were in Green Bay this morning working with a real-estate agent. He said Walker's home in Green Bay, which he purchased from former Packers defensive end Jamal Reynolds about two years ago, will be on the market by Wednesday.

Walker has one year remaining on his original five-year contract with the Packers at a base salary of $1.15 million. He underwent reconstructive knee surgery Oct. 7.

According to Goldsmith, Walker has spent the off-season back and forth between Houston and Tallahassee, Fla., where he was back attending classes at Florida State. Goldsmith said his stepson is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation.

Thompson has denied a request by Walker's agent, Kennard McGuire, seeking permission to shop his client.

what are people's predicitons here?

it's going to be one of 3 options:

1.  he goes back to GB with his tail between his legs
2.  he actually stays true to his word and retires
3.  he is released/traded
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Walker can hold out until the final six games of the season to gain an accrued season if he wants, and be eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2007. He will lose cash, but will eventually recoup his lost earnings while Green Bay gets screwed without any compensation at all. Also, under the new CBA,  a player can quit or retire, and the team cant take away his bonus.....they have to release him and provide an opportunity to find another club. Then they can attempt to recoup a portion of the bonus.

Rome

He's not going to retire.  That's idiotic.

I think he forces the Packers to trade him.  After the comments he's made, there's no way he'd be welcomed back into that organization.

That said, the Packers reportedly looking for a #1 for a guy with a blown-out knee is absurd.

They should take what they can get for him and move on.

They use the same network as Philly.com.  It's Brookover's article today where he declares that the Eagles will not get Moulds or Walker.....not that anyone should listen to him or anything....

MadMarchHare

Option #1 wins.  Walker has zero leverage.  If he sits out this season, his deal just jumps a year.  And his salary isn't high enough to make the Pack think twice.  He should keep his mouth shut, try to have a monster year, and move on in 07.
Anyone but Reid.

Rome

How is he supposed to have a monster year on a re-constructed knee?

PoopyfaceMcGee

I'm going to keep the odds of the Eagles getting Moulds at around 5 to 1 and the odds of the Eagles getting Walker at around 8 to 1.  I should be in the sportsbook business.

MadMarchHare

He's not, the same reason why no one should be bending over backwards to pay him.  Let him show he's got some savvy on a bum wheel, he'll get paid.  If he keeps up the whine fest, he might just talk himself out of a payday.
Anyone but Reid.
