SD,

Gaffney wanted the 1 year deal.

To prove his worth? Sorry, not buying it. He was on a crappy team and would have jumped at the oppurtunity to sign a lucrative deal. No one was offering it so he chose to play on a 1 year deal in a pass happy offense where is cousin was also playing.

Well, it appears that it was Rosenhaus's idea to have him sign a 1-year deal and then turn it around to a bigger one.

And who gives a farg if it is a one year deal or a 67 year deal? He's signed. We needed WR help. He ain't Givens but he's better than Greg lewis.

Gaffney's claiming he wasn't part of the decision to only sign a 1-year deal.  He said he hopes to stay here for a lot longer and sign a long-term deal at the end of the season.

Gaffney jerseys are up 30% since his signing and he could be the next Jerry Rice in this system.....what you dont think so? ;) ;)

And if Bobby Carpenter is there in round 2, take him. He'd be better than Dhani and I say that knowing he hasn't even begun his NFL career yet

I would love to grab Carpenter in the 2nd, but he'll be gone.

He's on Sirius right now and mentioned us as one of the teams that have worked him out. I'm saying 'NO' to any LB we're considering drafting day 1.

Why?

Like Dhani?

Barry Gardner, Quinton Caver, Matt McCoy...need I say more?

The BIGSTUD

You can't be afraid to make a bad pick. If a LB you want is there in the 2nd round you take him.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Sure. Because those guys mean they will draft sucky LBs forever.

And its too early to judge McCoy.

And did they get a good player in Reggie Brown after years of bad WR picks?

They did.

They say 3rd times a charm, except when you're the Eagles drafting a LB in the 2nd round. I'll take my chances somewhere else like OG.

I care because the Eagles have signed someone in the past for a 1 year deal, the guy had a good year and then he bolted.  I also care because it doesnt show they they have any real faith in the player.  They have no problem extending the Todd Pinkstons and the Greg Lewis's for long deals, yet they sign their one FA WR to a basic 1 year rental deal.    Obviously Gaffney could get an extension or re-sign after the season... just as he could bolt to another team.

On a side note, and not that it means anything other than an interesting fact: I read that Gaffney had the smallest hands in the draft that year.

Doesn't that mean he has a small penis too?

And if they signed him to a 4 year deal they'd be getting ripped even more for signing a guy to a long term deal. They did Pinky and Lewis because they got it on the cheap.

And if he's playing well, he'll be one of the guys to get an extension later in November when thet extend players. And if he sucks the 1-year deal is a good thing.
