But it's not done yet. Did I miss the memo that said rosters must be set by today?

No, it's not done yet, but the true impact players (minus Arrington, who they won't sign) are all signed.  they may add players from here on out, but they won't be at the level of players that they have passed up so far.

There are still good players out there though. Are the marquee guys? No. But there are good players and guys who are better than what we have now.

Because everyone is on a "bash the Eagles" kick lately and I figured I'd throw that one out there because I know you love WIP...  :)

If that's true...why the holdup?
Who knows? I believe it might be because they wanted the market to settle down a little bit.

rjs246

Here's a hint. The holdup is caused by this front office thinking that the team they have in place is good enough. They think that the only reason they went 6-10 last year is because of injuries. What they don't realize is that EVERY OTHER TEAM in the division has improved since the Eagles were in the superbowl. Every one of them. Staying put makes about as much sense as tits on a bull.

Cataldi said this team will struggle to win 8 games and could end up 5-11.  The rest of the morning crew said it's impossible to predict anything before the draft or the June cuts

its impossible to predict anything before it happens...but there is at best a 20% chance the eagles get an impact player via the draft or june first cut...anyone who says free agency isnt over is wrong...because for all intensiove purposes it is

and they still have the best QB in the division

now this is a valid point...if mcnabb isnt permanently scarred from last year by itself his return should be good for a couple wins...but its hardly enough to get the eagles into the playoffs...mcnabb is not a good enough player to overcome a bad defense or horrid wr's...he doesnt make other people better
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Other than Madison, what have the Giants done?

How do you figure that FA is over? There are still players out there who are good and could help.

I agree about the defense. That needs to be stout again. Thats why the Howard signing was good and why getting Barber was good. Now they just need a SAM and a pocket collapsing DT via the draft.

The WRs are better than what we had in 2000-2003

PoopyfaceMcGee

They will not get a SAM in the draft good enough to unseat Dhani Jones.  Don't kid yourself.

SunMo

both their WIL and SAM were awful, yet you are content with them signing a 32 year old player who has played 11 games in the last two years.  meanwhile Julian Peterson and Will Witherspoon got signed by other teams.  How is that good for the Eagles?
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

BigEd76

Saying the WRs are better than the pre-TO 2000s is like saying that your latest dump didn't reek as bad as the one a few days ago....

QuoteOther than Madison, what have the Giants done?

Since the Eagles were in the SB? Plenty.

Eli got more experience. They signed Burress. They have continuity and good coaching and have made strides on defense, not by huge signings but through coaching. If you don't think they've improved from two years ago you're smoking crack.

1. They don't have to draft a SAM better than Jones. There are guys out there to be signed who are better. And even if they did draft a guy, if they target him and get him for the SAM I am all for it if it means removing Jones.

2. I know the WRs aren't a star studded group I would've loved to have David Givens. But if they get back to spreading it around and running the ball more, I will take this group (as ragged as it is) ovet the Pinky-Trash-Mitchell-Brown-Freeman days.

3. And the Giants can get credit through continuity and coaching but the Eagles can't? They still have Eli Manning. He was brutal last year. Great early on, pure shtein later on. And the Eagles haven't made huge signings either. But hey, give the Giants credit on that but not the Eagles.

I am glad that you have confidence in their receivers because I have absolutely none in any of them outside of Brown.  And that poor bastich is going to get killed because they really have no other threats, maybe Gaffney but that is a big if.

My point is that the Giants have gotten better through continuity. The Eagles, while they MIGHT get better through continuity, took a massive step back last year. Comparing the two is silly.
