A History of Violence - A History of Crap should be the name. I read good review after good review on this movie and was anxious to see it.  Acting was bad, poorly written and just had some unbelievable moments.  1/5

i liked the movie more than you mussa but how bad was william hurt and how much of a joke was it that he was nominated for best supp actor...not only was he cartoonish awful and ruined the movie but he was in it for about five minutes...and to top it off he was in the same movie with a guy that should have been nominated...the excellent ed harrris

Watched Walk the Line last night.  Thought it wasn't bad, nothing spectacular.  Joaquin did a fantastic job, I'm not super into Johnny cash but it seemed like he really nailed down the voice, and even the mannerisms.  Not exactly sure why Reese Witherspoon won the Oscar, I don't think she did anything great.  I guess it was cool that they sang their own songs, but if I didn't know that she won I wouldn;t be saying anything about her performance warranting an oscar nomination.  Phoenix was way more deserving.

Anyway, I liked it, but wouldn't go tell anyone that they have to see it.  Lots of music if you're into that genre, which i'm not really.  3/5

Agreed.  I believe all of the guys nominated for Best Actor probably put in better performances than any of the women nominated for Best Actress.  Reese was probably as good as any of the other nominees.

Walk the Line was good, I thought, def. worth seeing.  I think the fact that Reese, not only acted good, but sang was Oscar worthy enough.

V for Vendetta is getting some good reviews. Wasn't going to see it at first but with the quality of movies out right now it might be worth checking out.

Watched "The Weather Man" last night.  Slightly better than I expected, but nothing special.  Catch it on cable.  The one thing I couldn't get over was the retarded guy from "Deach to Smoochy" playing Nic Cage's ex-wife's new suitor.

Watched One Hour Photo starring Robin Williams. It had two scenes in which it showed women's naughty places, but not for nearly long enough. I will watch it again, though, when I can't get to sleep.

I would disagree completely with this. I thought it was a very creepy movie and that Robin Williams did an excellent job being, well, creepy. Definitely worth a watch.

Speaking of, I finally saw all of The Exorcism of Emily Rose last night. Aside from a couple of laughable pieces of dialogue I thought it was great. Laura Linney might be the exception to the 'today's actresses couldn't act their way out of a paper bag' rule. The dude from Singles with the giant nose was exceptional and whoever played Emily Rose did a fine job as well. Good stuff.

Saw History of Violence last night.  meh.   I enjoyed it up until William Hurt got involved.  Just turned into nonsense after that.   Your right about his nomination IGY, ridiculous.  An overrated movie because of Cronenberg's groupies.

yeah its getting excellent reviews...looks like a comic book movie so i still probably wont see it but im reconsidering as well....portman is supposedly fantastic...one review i read already had her for best actress nom. talk
