Walker
Patterson
Rayburn
Buckner
Bunkley

That would be solid. Buckner excels at occupying blockers. He is no 360 load like Ted Washington but he is pretty good. He was a very good player in Carolina.

He would allow the other DT and DEs to get to the QB and also help the run defense.

He is better than Hollis 35 or not.

QuoteHe is a veteran DT who has gotten better with age. After being somewhat of an underachiever early in his career, he now has excellent offseason workout habits and was really a team leader on the Panthers' defense. He was released for cap reasons but still has a couple of good years of solid play in him. He would be a great fit for a team needing an interior player to get over the hump and become a Super Bowl contender

Yeah, well you were worried about the Eagles using some of that cap room.  There you go.

In this case, I'm more worried about a half-finished veteran taking the possible spot in a rotation or on the roster of a player with a ton more upside.  But thanks for caring.

Hollis doesn't have a ton more upside.

Buckner > Hollis

if the eagles are going balls out to win a superbowl this year or next, buckner would be a great signing, imo.

Buckner > Hollis

I'm referring to guys the Eagles should be signing, like Bernard or Pickett... and guys they should look at drafting, like Ngata, Bunkley, or John McCargo.

But you knew that, dcik.

I honestly don't really care one way or the other.  Buckner doesn't have much if anything left, but at this point, I consider him a trade for Hollis which at absolute worst is a lateral move.

And it's not like this move will deter them from going after a DT in the 1st round if that's what they were planning.

It tells me that they are planning to draft a DT high for sure.

If they weren;t then they'd be going after a pass rushing DT like Bernard. But since they aren't they are going to get Bunkley, Ngata, Watson, McCargo or someone like that.

So adding Buckner would replace Hollis and then adding another disruptive DT in the draft would upgrade the interior pass rush.

SunMo

it's obvious they are signing Buckner so they have another DT when the Hollis/Walker trade goes through
