The Washington Post reports the Washington taterskins will give WR Brandon Lloyd a new contract. According to several league sources, the new contract will reach up to $10 million in guaranteed money and could average close to $5.5 million per season.

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Washington taterskins scheduled New York Jets franchise DE John Abraham for a visit Sunday night, March 12. It will be interesting to see if the taterskins have the right draft choices to trade to the Jets for Abraham. The team has only a second, a fifth, two sixths and a seventh in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Let's laugh at the Skins for this not happening, because I'm going to say it's a dead lock that there is no way they get him.

If adding three possible starters to an inconsistent offense wasn't enough, the taterskins also were on the verge of signing veteran backup quarterback Todd Collins to replace Patrick Ramsey, who figures to be traded soon to either the New York Jets or Miami for a second-day draft pick. And Washington could be looking at former Baltimore and Carolina center Jeff Mitchell to give them a veteran reserve lineman

"There are a lot of speeches about core guys, but then they don't keep the core group together," said Clark, who's going to visit the Steelers today. "I love my teammates and my coaches, but there's the football side, and there's the business side of the building. [taterskins owner] Dan Snyder likes to make big moves, and Archuleta's a first-round guy. He's a good player, an athletic guy. They'll be able to use him well."

Clark, who made the Giants as undrafted rookie in 2002 and had a surprisingly large impact after signing with the taterskins just before training camp in 2004, would be unhappy to leave Washington.

"We have real good chemistry on defense, especially in the secondary," Clark said. "I know my role. And my teammates know what to expect from me. I'm not trying to break the bank. I just want to take care of my family. But with Sean [Taylor] and Archuleta, three's a crowd. I've worked too hard to be on the bench again. I've been proving people wrong my whole career. This is just another example of nothing coming easy for me

Archuleta left for Chicago without a deal.

Ryan Clark, a guy who the ESers slobber all over as a "core guy" now are saying he's not a core player because he ripped the organization.

I would rather the skins sign carter but that doesn't seem to be happening either

The Skins would have to give up their first rounder next year and something else to get Abraham, THEN they'd have to throw a pile of money at him too.  I know the Eagles now have a pair of DE's with a storied injury history, but Abraham just smells like the kind of guy who will sit back after collecting the big dollars.

So, I agree... you'd probably be better, all factors considered, with Carter.

who cares what they pay?  the Eagles have a shtein load under the cap, if the market calls for ARE to get paid that, then he gets paid it, just because you (not necessarily you as a person, but the Eagles FO) feel he shouldn't be paid that much doesn't mean shtein, it's what the market dictates.

yeah its amazing how much eagle fans are infatuated with money...in this repsect you have to give it to andy and banner and the way they have completely brainwashed a large segment of the fanbase

All I know is that Randle El's contract looks very similar to Darren Howard's at first glance, and I'd rather have Howard.

howard was horrible last year on a defensive line that was better than the eagles...not saying he cant revert back to form this year but still

While not bad advice, let me say to you, why not live it up a little? The season will bring what the season will bring. But, until then, as no team can compete with us from a management or organizational standpoint, doesn't it feel RIGHT to feel good and let others know it?
