If true, I'd be curious what they were planning to do with the WRs.

Finneran is at his best on intermediate to deep routes.  I think Greg needs to be the slot guy.  Reggie and Todd, if healthy, are the starters.

Possibly this could me Brian and Todd platooning at X-rcvr.  I'd be fine with that.

We cannot have another year of Greg Lewis as the backup X.  He is not a starter.

DH

If Wayne ever hit the open market, Snyder would have yoinked him up faster that you could say six flags.

The BIGSTUD

I'm hoping Finneran takes the role of what McCants was supposed to be last year. Come in on red zone plays, and be a 4th receiver.

I hope to god they sign another receiver or at least draft someone like Chad Jackson or Derek Hagan in the 2nd round.

I've always liked Finneran but I don't really see a place on this team for him. We're loaded from top to bottom in terms of complimentary recievers. If the Eagles are going to bring in a reciever it needs to be Moulds. Period.

The FO is really starting to piss me off.

Really, what WR's were there? With Wayne gone, all they had to choose from was a bunch of complimentary guys & one with KR/PR ability to choose from. If Moulds ever was released, I'd be pissed that they didn't pursue him but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

They're addressing a need position with a player who, imo, doesn't fill any needs which makes it pointless.  Sure, the WR pool isn't very deep this year so instead of signing marginal talent to blend in with the current marginal talent already on the roster, how about focusing the effort on need positions that can be filled with quality players.

Signing Finneran is like throwing another hen in the hen house when you don't have any roosters.

Jason Avant is solid too. He had a nice combine.

I completely know how you feel, I just think that there really weren't any WR's most would consider a quality player to begin with. I can guarantee that if the Eagles signed Randel-El, there would be a huge contingent bitching about signing a gimmick player/special teams guy that really didn't address the need (I would have liked it, BTW).

I'm not excited about Finneran either, but at least they are admitting that position needs some attention. I pray that they feel it needs even more.

IMO though, they're just spending money for the sake of spending money (even if it's not a lot).  As it stands right now, the WR position CAN NOT be fixed via free agency (unless Moulds shakes loose from Buf).  So spending any time on it at this point is time wasted.  I mean, it's the 2nd day of free agency and Brian farging Finneran is off the board now.  I'm pretty sure the Eagles could have focused more energy on someone who may actually make a significant impact (maybe Howard) and Finneran would still be there tomorrow.

That's all I'm really complaining about.  It's not so much that they signed Finneran, it's that they signed him on the same day that big name free agents are being signed by other teams.  It's like drafting Quincey Carter in the 2nd round when you know he'll be available in the 4th.

Is something wrong with Antonio Bryant or Givens? They don't like them and they like Finneran because......?

Bryant = punkass bitch

Givens = good and would love him, but is visting about 12 teams now.

Antonio Bryant hasn't got in any trouble since he left Dallas. He was a kid then, and apparently has matured.

He's only 25 and is only going to get better.

Patriots.com - According to a report in Sunday's Houston Chronicle free agent wide receiver David Givens has cancelled a scheduled visit to meet with the Texans after reaching a deal late Saturday to re-sign with the Patriots.

Previously, Givens had reportedly made a free agent visit to the Miami Dolphins. A native of Humble, Texas, Givens' Boston-based agent Brad Blank had reportedly listed the Dolphins, Texans and Patriots as the trio of teams Givens would choose between.

Supposedly, even the Texans thought he was asking for too much:

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans spent Sunday, March 12, meeting with free agent WR David Givens (Patriots). Givens reportedly wants $25 million over five years and that's out of the Texans' price range. Late Saturday night, March 11, the Texans said Boston-based agent Brad Blank informed them that Givens was going to re-sign with the New England Patriots. This morning, Givens came to Houston as scheduled, told the Texans there had been some miscommunication and that he was definitely interested. They still haven't given up on him, but the price is too high.

LBIggle

at least if we signed ARE, we would've been covered for punt returner too.  as bad as our special teams were last year, they wouldn't be a bad thing to address.. ya know, since were not realistically looking at LB, OL, or WR.

PhillyPhreak54

Newsflash:

Punt returners can be obtained elsewhere. You don't have to sign a guy just because he is a PR.
