would this have made Eagles fans happy and improve the team. Immediately upon free agency sign, Randel El, Bentley, Arrington, Garcia...why arent' they getting it done. Barber was at one time great...so was Hugh Douglass..but not the second time around.

MDS

give me randle el, who cares. thats basically 3 recievers who are exactly the same and one demensional. way to go, danny.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don't agree, but it begs the question, how you covering Moss, El, LLoyd, Coooooley, Portis? It is an impressive line-up. Now the question is, can Campbell get them the ball?

More source stuff.  Not exactly official but I haven't heard or seen anything to say it hasn't been done.

The Washington taterskins signed versatile playmaker Antwaan Randle El this afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, completing an overhaul of their receiver corps. Randle El, 26, will join Brandon Lloyd, 24, who was acquired from San Francisco on Friday, and Santana Moss as the taterskins attempt to improve their passing game in 2006.

Randle El was one of the premier free agents on the market, and is one of five players completing visits to Washington Sunday, along with defensive end Andre Carter, safety Adam Archuleta , quarterback Todd Collins and tight end Christian Fauria.

Washington's offense became stagnant in the postseason, with Moss the clear focal point of the downfield game, but now starting quarterback Mark Brunell will have an array of options. Randle El, a former college quarterback, also is an elite return specialist.

The Chicago Bears, Randle El's hometown team, made a push to sign the receiver when free agency began just at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, an offer believed to be worth about $20 million with an $8 million signing bonus.

The taterskins entertained Randle El and the other free agents at a Wizards game Saturday night, and the players were back at taterskins Park this morning and afternoon. Randle El's agent, Fletcher Smith, was also here; Randle El, who helped the Steelers win a Super Bowl title last month, left in taterskins Park in a limo at 2:10 p.m., saying a deal was not yet done. Smith departed at 3:20 saying, "We haven't accomplished anything yet, but I'll be here for a little while."

The details of the contract were not immediately available.

Carter, a pass-rushing end, was the second player to leave taterskins Park yesterday, heading out around 2:45. Carter is drawing significant interest from other teams -- Denver among them, according to a source -- and he, too, left without signing. He was accompanied to his limo by Greg Blache, assistant head coach -- defense, who wished him well and added, "We hope to see you back here." Carter did not speak to the media.

The next to leave was Fauria, 34, who has was part of New England's 2003 and 2004 Super Bowl teams, and has played 12 seasons. Fauria was not believed to have joined the other four free agents during their festivities Saturday night. Archuleta, 28, and Collins, 34, who were not accompanied by their agents, remained in taterskins Park at as late afternoon. Achuleta could provide cover incase free safety Sean Taylor serves jail time as part of his upcoming felony assault trial, and with starting strong safety set for three free agent visits to other clubs this week. Collins worked with Al Saunders, associate coach -- offense, in Kansas City and would provide experience behind Brunell and rookie Jason Campbell.

Well, the taterskins have so far been successful in what they wanted to do.  None of their targeted players have signed elsewhere or gotten away from them yet, so kudos on that.

As usual, it will remain to be seen how well the big signings will fit in with the scheme.  I think it speaks volumes that the taterskins had their best year in recent memory last year, when they were relatively quiet in adding free agents and the Coles/Moss trade was by far their biggest move, which worked out well, obviously.

I am not convinced that the taterskins will be good enough on offense to make the playoffs again.  Also, with additions and subtractions, I don't see the defense improving as much as staying about the same.

We'll see.  A lot of off-season left.

taterskins | A. Carter visits team

Jason La Canfora and Howard Bryant, of the Washington Post, reports free agent LB Andre Carter (49ers) completed his visit with the Washington taterskins Sunday, March 12, and left without signing a contract offer sheet from the team.

The taterskins need a TE, DE, SS, OLB, and OL depth to have everything needed.  They don't have draft picks and they must address these positions some way.  They really need a TE to have a functioning offense unless they move Cooley to a real TE roll.

I really want Carter more and more as I read about him.  He will most likely play DE for the skins or he will move back and forth.

Need a WIL?  You can have Mark Simoneau.  Just a 2nd round draft pick...  :paranoid

That would leave the Skins with no picks on day 1.

ESPN.com reports Washington taterskins WR Antwaan Randle El agreed to a six-year, $31 million deal to join the taterskins, a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com's Michael Smith. The deal includes $10 million in bonuses.

Sirius is still reporting this deal is not yet official.

Thats the point.

In other news, when they traded for Brandon Lloyd they gave a 2007 4th rounder. The Skedrins are already trading future picks, even before the draft before the draft.
