Givens is still very much on the market.  Either the Browns were hoping they would sign him immediately and had the story ready to go, but someone found it, or it was a hack job.  Either way, Givens has no less than 8 teams after him.

Mark Eckel, of the Trenton Times, reports the Philadelphia Eagles might sign free agent RB Mike Anderson (Broncos) later this week. Anderson has interest from several teams and may weigh his offers. The Eagles might take that time to gauge the market for a dependable backup running back.

It seems to me that The Eagles probably knew all along that the new CBA would give all teams some cap relief and that this would allow some players to get inflated deals early on.

I think their stragedy is probably to wait for other teams to set the market, push themselves back up against the cap, and then go back to low ballin' whoever is left.
