At this point, I'd almost be willing to take a strike if it means the Skins getting farged.

Skins fans being idiots once again

QuoteWhat's funny about this article is not the falsehood that the taterskins can't be competitive next year or that they will be doomed to "cap hell".

It's the notion that the Eagles, well under the cap (according to the article) are chomping at the bit to go FA shopping. They simply can't wait.

Since when?  When have they ever been like that?

The Eagles are way under the cap for a reason. And it has nothing to do with clever FO work.

A taterskin fan should NEVER EVER speak down on another squads front office.

PoopyfaceMcGee

If they sold a Snyder/Gibbs gay pr0n on D.C. PPV, they'd have fans lining up to pay $50 to see it.

We should've traded a first round pick to draft a QB in the first round to stockpile three mediocre players at one position. Damnit.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the skins front office is crazy good when it comes to the cap...they basically are able to spends gobs of money and still can be active in FA when they choose...

thank god tho they are completely incompetant as far as getting the right player personel heads in there...cause theyd be dangerous if that ever happened

Incorrect.  They do this same thing every year... restructuring contracts to add guaranteed money that can be prorated over time.  All they do is continually push the cap hit back and add guarantees to contracts.  You're seeing one of the first times this will REALLY bite them in the ass with Arrington.  His contract was so heavily back-loaded with the cap that they literally will see a significant cap hit whether he's kept or cut.

Because the cap has continued going up at a decent clip and bonuses have continued to be able to be prorated over 7 years, the taterskins have continually manipulated contracts to stay alive.  However, if the cap stays more constrictive than they were banking on or the ability to prorate bonuses over 7 years goes away (both of which will happen if the CBA extension doesn't get done), their backs are really going to be against the wall.

It's similar to the difference between paying cash for something or putting it on credit.  The taterskins do whatever they can to push a cap hit to the future, while the Eagles like to find ways to make sure they have the most possible cap room for the future.  Both teams spend more real money on players' salaries than most teams by far.  The Eagles just end up paying guys who actually play for the team.  The taterskins sometimes have to pay guys that they already cut (like Deion and Jeremiah Trotter).

who cares how they do it

theyve been doing the same thing going on ten years now and theyve never not been able to go out and get who they want

as for arrington he is getting cut cause they hate him and he cant stay healthy...trust me if they wanted to keep him they would

Well, they won't be able to get anyone they want this year unless the CBA gets extended.

How bad is the forward thinking of the front office when they can hardly scramble enough to get under a cap that's basically increased $10 million since the last season?

2005 cap = $85 million
2006 cap = $94.5 million

It really shouldn't be as big a problem as it is.  They were ill-prepared for the CBA not to get extended.  PERIOD.

yeah well pretty much everyone assumed it would get extended...and it still might...as i said yesterday the only reason they will be in trouble for the first time since snyder has been there is because of a labor dispute...and even if it doesnt get extended i wanna see them not get anyone before i believe it

The cap, even without the new CBA, is jumping up nearly $10 million.  How badly do you have to backload everyone's contracts to be under an $85 million cap one year and have serious problems getting under a $94.5 million cap the next?  That's all I'm saying.

But, once again, if you are so in awe of their system (which is much simpler than you think), why aren't you a fan?

phattymatty

unfortunately, the fact that they actually pushed the deadline back 3 days means it most certainly will get done, and the skins aren't as effed as expected, which is sad
