In relation to the cap, the Eagles spend somewhere in-between what the national media and WIP claim and what they claim through Spadaro and Heckert.  They've been exploiting the loopholes to transfer cap room from one year to the next with all but an "emergency fund" of $1-$2 million.  I don't think they were able to do that last year with the CBA issues, but instead they dumped most of their remaining cap room on Westbrook and Akers.

Either way, saying the fans deserve the Eagles spending every last cent of cap room is an uninformed, taterskins fan comment.  So, I will use this as another opportunity to point and laugh at some of the dumbest fans in the country... both the average taterskins fan, and the average WIP listener.  They are roughly equal in salary cap acumen.

you of course still have to make the right decisions but if you dont spend all your money then you dont give yourself the opportunity to make those right decisions...thats all i ask...again only  in the case that youre close to a title

So having $1-2 million left is unacceptable?

PoopyfaceMcGee

Absolutely.  You should always have to restructure at least 1-2 contracts to make any small moves.

C'mon, bm.  Don't bow down to the man.  You, as a tax-paying, merchandise-buying fan DESERVE $0.00 in cap room EVERY SINGLE YEAR.  Any room means that Jeff Lurie hates you and wants to eat your children.

ice grillin you

that have had a lot more than that left in each of the past four or five offseasons

last offseason consisted of mike mcmahon even tho they had plenty more to spend

if that doesnt upset you then nothing will

Sweet lord this is fantastic. taterskins fans sound like hockey fans who woulnd't admit that their sport was going away for a year and kept holding out hope and holding out hope that the greedy players and owners would come to a deal. Well guess what idiots, you're totally screwed.

Pointing and laughing, pointing and laughing.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

C'mon,  you should know me better than that.  In response to IGY saying that they should spend "every dollar", I was curious if he meant that literally & whether he was OK with the few million left over.

Personally, I can't see what they'd improve with $1-2 million anyway.

What you don't know or understand is that the Eagles use up-front roster bonuses more than any other team in the league.  Teams like the taterskins love to push back the salary cap hit of bonuses, and even will give "tiered" bonuses to go from year to year.  When the Eagles gave bonuses to Westbrook and Akers right before the deadline for the 2005 cap last year, they chewed up all their available room and avoided having cumbersome cap numbers for those players down the line.  Because they spent the money after the John Claytons and Peter Kings of the world had long since stopped keeping track is why the average WIP *dook* like yourself is still whining like a little bitch.

No one is sitting here saying that the Eagles had a great off-season or made all the right moves, or any of the right moves, except on draft day.  But I am saying that they spent all but a biscuit of their cap room, because I know it's absolutely true.

Your bone-headed opinion toward the team's spending is why you should probably just root for your new hometeam, unless you want to shut off the WIP internet feed and actually learn what's going on behind the scenes.

12:01am on Friday morning all teams must be in compliance with the salary cap.

So Thursday will be the day that rosters get chopped and ExtremeSkins meltsdown.

taterskins players have already begun to bite the bullet for Coach Gibbs......oh wait..

Quotetaterskins | Brunell rejects team's proposal
Tue, 28 Feb 2006 20:34:06 -0800

Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports Washington taterskins QB Mark Brunell rejected the team's offer to renegotiate his contract. Brunell has a base salary of $4 million for the 2006 season and the taterskins had hoped to convert his base salary to bonuses in an effort to reduce his cap figure. The taterskins salary cap number is currently $115.4 million, nearly $20 million over the projected salary cap of about $96 million. The team has until 12:01 a.m. on Friday, March 3, to get under the salary cap. Cutting or trading Brunell is not much of an option as he would cost more against the cap if that were to occur.

I was being facetious with you, man.  I know you know what's up.

The thing is that IGY clearly believes the Eagles leave ~$10 million of cap room on the table year after year.  It's kind of funny how wrong he is, much like he was on the outlook of PSU's recruiting class... but since he prides himself on being such a big fan, I would like him to some day make an effort to do the research to realize just how wrong he is on the matter of the salary cap.  That's his call, though.  It's obvious he's been living in DTC territory a little too long.

the skins have NEVER been in salary cap trouble...and now may possibly be in such only because of a labor situation..so i dont understand the comparison of the two...if the eagles were half as aggresive with their money as the skins they probably would have a superbowl right now as they have people in positions to make proper PP decisions whereas the skins havent/dont

Just switch your allegiance, man.  You're a taterskins fan in Eagles' clothing.  You can sell your Eagles-related buttered johnsons, or whatever you call them, on eBay and finally get that Doug Williams retro jersey you're craving.

Actually they put in in Brewers contract as a LTBE.
SO they spent it, but there was no actual outlay of cash.

No, they're in cap trouble because they kept restructuring deals and pushing others back. 2006 was the year we knew it was going to come back and bite them in the ass.
Saying "if the eagles were half as aggresive with their money as the skins they probably would have a superbowl right now" when we've been a way more successful team over the past 5 years and are in a great cap situation is dumb. Have the Skins ever gone out in a single offseason and been able to sign a TO and Kearse?
