Rome

I thought "American Beauty" was the best movie of the '90s.

"Fargo" was great, "Reservoir Dogs" was also great.

Mad-Lad

you've obviously never seen the greatest movie of the 90s, Baby Geniuses.

1. millers crossing
2. la confidential
3. silence of the lambs
4. boyz in the hood
5. seven

it really hurts not to put schindlers list in there

90's>70's

resovoir dogs>pulp ficiton

millers crossing doesnt get the love it deserves because its a timeless film that doesnt try to be 'hip' like pulp fiction and cater to an audience of irony starved 20something know it all psuedo intellectuals pant wetters...it deals with moral and philosophical issues and doesnt build its foundation on shock value and one liners...fact is...its much better written....acted...and shot film than any other film of the decade....they are still two of my favorite films of the 90s...but i guarantee 20-30 years from now itll be up there with Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas when people talk about crime films...the scene where turturro begs for his life and the scene where finney goes buck wild with the tommy gun are two of the best scenes in film history...period

For me, in terms of pure entertainment and how many times I've watched these flicks id say Shawshank Redemption/Pulp Fiction or even T2.  yes, back in the early nineties T2 was fargin awesome and you cant even debate.   :fire

SunMo

well it definitley sounds like a movie i would like.  so i'll check it out sometime.  but you don't need to shtein on Pulp to make your point.  next time i see you, i'm kicking you in the shins.

shawshank very good but outlandishly long...which keeps it from being great

Shawshank isn't any longer than every film that hits the theaters now.

How can you deny yourself the simple pleasure of watching futuristic androids built for destruction beat and shoot the shtein out of each other?

Maybe my assessment of you having the movie taste of a common house wife was off slightly... You actually seem to have the taste of a pompous college film major. I'll bet you use the word cinematography at least four times a day. I'll bet you loved Pulp Fiction when very few knew who Tarantino was and distanced yourself from loving it when everyone and their mother started falling all over themselves to see/talk about it. You turn up your nose at big guilty pleasure movies, but boring ass dramas (none of which are discussed here, thinking more along the lines of Match Point) get your thumbs up. EMO ass, film school dropout, film-critic wannabe is what I'm envisioning.

i mean im all over boring ass dramas like seven boyz in the hood and millers crossing
