I like Joey Porter too. He's a nut, but I'd drive to Pittsburgh to pick his ass up if it meant getting rid of Double-oh Five Five.

Porter not fined!
So let me get this straight, Clinton Portis and Sean Taylor get fined for wearing the wrong colour socks, yet Joey Porter doesn't for calling the officials bent? Gee whiz, the NFL is giving a LOT of ammo to the conspiracy theorists out there.

I can well understand that, but saying the refs are incompetant and the refs are cheats are completely different.

I agree they're totally different.  But I think the NFL knows they farged up and they realize how hypocritical they'd look if they went and fined Porter for his comments.  The NFL has been taking a beating over the officiating since the playoffs began and it'd only put more light and attention on an issue the NFL surely wants to put behind them.

From what I understand, the NFL does not fine players for criticizing the refs unlike the NBA or other leagues might.  They only fine coaches who speak out.
