Sam Young is down to PSU, ND, USC and Michigan, so he's leaving the state of Florida.  I think he's a longshot for PSU though...

Hazelton was one guy I was pretty sure was not coming to PSU.  Getting Bell was a bonus, considering how young the WR's are as is.  I'm still 1/1 on my 7 guys, and I demand a point if they get at least 5.  5 is closer to 7, and 4 is closer to 2.  You can feel free to take a point if PSU gets only 4 or less of the 7 guys I called, since you think they'll only get 2.

you said 7 of 7 so you better get 7 of 7

who are they anyway...since you were 'sure' vidal wasnt one of them

I think Penn State gets at least Evans, Logan-El, Eliades, Taylor, Quarless, Wallace, and Walton.

Even 5 of those 7 guys would be a nice haul, but I think PSU gets all 7.

You also said 5/7 was "far-fetched".  Therefore, I would get credit for 5/7.

I wonder if Derrick Williams feelings are hurt since the team is winning without him.

QuotePaterno's problem: keeping Penn State sharp

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Joe Paterno is in a tricky spot. How to keep Penn State sharp after such a long layoff?

The Nittany Lions haven't played since beating Michigan State 31-22 on Nov. 19 to clinch the Big Ten title and a BCS berth. Paterno's team arrived in Florida on Dec. 20 to get ready for the Orange Bowl against Florida State. Paterno wonders if he started preparations too early.

Last week, he talked about his squad being sluggish. Paterno said the players broke out of their funk Sunday, the last full day of practice.

Paterno wants to limit distractions during the day Tuesday since the game doesn't start until after 8 p.m. Lots of family, friends and alumni are in the area, and there won't be football games on TV to watch to keep them occupied, as there are during a typical fall Saturday.

"There's nothing going on," he said. "I'm a little concerned about being in a hotel with a lot of Penn State fans, and trying to keep people away from them without annoying fans."

Bobby Bowden's team hasn't played since Dec. 3, when the Seminoles beat Virginia Tech in the ACC championship game. They didn't have to travel quite as far for the bowl and are used to warm winter climate.

"That is definitely a factor, being off this long and how will your kids respond," Bowden said. "That you may not know until the ball game."

------

DUKE FAN: Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson has his eyes on a national championship -- and it's not in football.

The No. 3 Nittany Lions play Florida State in the Orange Bowl on Tuesday night. Top-ranked USC and No. 2 Texas play for the national title in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday.

But Robinson is a big Duke basketball fan and predicts that come April the Blue Devils will be playing for their fourth NCAA championship under coach Mike Krzyzewski.

"I'm going to try and be at the national championship when Coach K holds up that trophy," said Robinson, sporting a rubber Duke bracelet on his right wrist. "So if you're there, look for me. Because they're going to be there, too."

Asked why he had no love for Penn State's struggling basketball team, Robinson did a spin as smooth as any he's made on the field.

"They're my second team," he said.

------

PATERNO & THE PRESS: Joe Paterno was ornery, complaining about his hectic bowl schedule and travel time between the team and media hotels. He also took a swipe at reporters, with whom he doesn't have a cozy relationship.

When asked about changes in the pressures of coaching over the last four decades, he said: "You guys can pick on me all you want, but I don't pay any attention to you because I don't have to. I don't give darn what you guys think, to be honest with you."

Later, Florida State coach Bobby Bowden was asked about Paterno's gripes with scheduling.

"I'm proud of him if he's grumpy," he said. "I'm just happy to be here, if you can imagine losing your last three games and then being here." The Seminoles ended a three-game losing skid by upsetting Virginia Tech in the ACC championship game.

Later, Bowden said he tightened up somewhat with the media the last five or six years because of increased criticism, though he has always tried to be accommodating.

"I have always felt like you can't succeed unless you meet your requirements with the media because you need to get your team projected out there," he said.

------

HORSE, OF COURSE: Florida State coach Bobby Bowden laughed when reminded of Joe Paterno's run-in with the horse.

"That was about the maddest I've ever seen Joe," Bowden said. "I thought he was going to tackle that dadgum horse."

The last time Penn State and Florida State played, in the 1990 Blockbuster Bowl, Paterno was incensed to see Renegade, the horse that carries Chief Osceola onto the field to plant a flaming spear.

"Is he going to be out there on the field?" Paterno said last week. " I'm going to make Bobby ride him."

The horse won't be at the Orange Bowl on Tuesday night.

Paterno said his problem with the horse started with Army's mascot, a mule.

"They're not house -trained. And neither are horses," Paterno said. "I stepped in something the mule dropped."
