Sounds like McCoy is going to enroll at Milford Academy, which is want PSU wanted him to do to get his grades up.  VA Tech picked a different school.  Could be a good sign...

I hate 18 year olds with talent. Well, make that, 18 year old MALES with talent. 18 year old females with 'talent' are alright.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

FSU football player accused of raping woman at Hollywood hotel
By Miami Herald staff
browardnews@MiamiHerald.com

Hollywood police are investigating an allegation that Florida State University defensive end A.J. Nicholson sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa.  ''We have spoken with Mr. Nicholson and he is cooperating fully with our investigation,'' said Hollywood police Detective Carlos Negron. ``We're speaking with witnesses and it is an active investigation.''

The woman called police at 3 a.m. saying she had been sexually assaulted at the hotel, at 3555 S. Ocean Drive in Hollywood, Negron said.

The 22nd-ranked Florida State Seminoles (8-4) are staying at the Diplomat while preparing for Tuesday's Orange Bowl game against Penn State.

At practice Thursday morning, FSU Head Coach Bobby Bowden said he had sent one of his players home for violating team policy. Bowden identified the player as starting linebacker Nicholson, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound senior who leads the team in tackles this year. Bowden would not say what policy Nicholson violated.

from the inky today....

Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of those practices has been that freshman wideout Derrick Williams, who broke his left arm two months ago in the Michigan loss, is back and apparently cleared to go in the Orange Bowl.

everything you always heard about that was a "no shot in hell" type of thing.  wouldn't there  be more of a media splash if he was cleared to play?

QuoteWilliams unlikely to play, Paterno says
By Frank Fitzpatrick
Inquirer Staff Writer

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Even though Derrick Williams has been working out with his teammates, Penn State coach Joe Paterno said yesterday that the freshman wideout probably won't play against Florida State in the 72d Orange Bowl on Tuesday.

Williams, whose speedy presence allowed Penn State to spread out its offense, broke his left arm Oct. 15 against Michigan.

"He wants to play," Paterno said. "He's out there running around. But the doctors are concerned. They're worried that if he did something with it, there could be nerve damage.

"I don't think it's worth the risk. So I doubt if he'll play."

Too much too soon? Paterno conceded that bringing his team to Florida on Dec. 20 might have been a mistake.

"I think we came too early," he said. "I'm a little nervous. This is as long as we've ever been at a bowl site."

With six workouts in Delray Beach and more here, Paterno said, the Nittany Lions have looked weary in recent days.

"We have not practiced well the last two days," he said. "We still look tired. We're only going to go an hour or an hour and 10 minutes [yesterday]. We've been practicing right in the middle of the day and it gets kind of hot."

Florida State took six days off and didn't arrive here until Wednesday.

The Nittany Lions are practicing at Barry University in Miami Shores and staying at the Sheraton Bal Harbour.

The Marino miss. Paterno told the South Florida media that he never really had a chance to recruit Dan Marino, the Pittsburgh native who went instead to Pitt and later became a local sports legend as the Dolphins' longtime quarterback.

In 1978, the year before Marino graduated from Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Penn State had recruited another all-American quarterback, Frank Rocco.

"We never had a shot at Marino," Paterno said. "We couldn't even get him to visit us... . I went to see him and he said, 'Coach, you've got Rocco. I can't compete with Rocco.' What are you going to do?"

No horsing around. Bobby Bowden said he's rarely seen Paterno more angry then when Renegade, the horse who carries Chief Osceola, the Seminoles' symbol, galloped into the stadium before Penn State's Blockbuster Bowl loss to Florida State in 1990.

"That damn horse," Paterno said yesterday. "Is he going to be out on the field? I hope Bowden has to ride him. Or at least clean up his dirt."

Paterno said his distaste for animals on the field dates back to his early days at Penn State, when Army would bring its mule mascot to games in State College.

"I stepped in something, and I told the president we're not going to let that mule on the field anymore," he said.

Miscellaneous. Despite his solid freshman season, placekicker Kevin Kelly from Neshaminy High said he was disappointed on how he kicked the ball late in the season. "They've been a little short," he said. "I have to work on that. I guess it's just a little bit different when you go from high school to college. I haven't really been playing this late into the year the last four years in high school."... Penn State's players participated in a team beach party in Miami Beach yesterday afternoon. The previous night, the Orange Bowl committee hosted them at a dinner at Smith & Wollensky's steak house.

I thought maybe JoePa was bluffing a little bit when I read that this morning because they had a picture of him kayaking in the ocean and its obvious that he is using that arm to steer the kayak.

Who knows though. Either way FSU is going to get beat down bad.

IGY, i'm with you on coachspeak, just throwing the article out there...

also, Dave Jones from the Patriot News was on DNL and he is down in Florida covering the game.  he said Williams had been lobbying hard that he could play and was telling everyone he could play, but now, he's starting hede a little bit.  Jones said from the start that Williams wouldn't play and didn't let up on that at all yesterday, so take it for what it's worth.
