I drank a bunch of Absinthe last night

Has anyone ever made their own?

I've been obsessed with trying absinthe for the past month & stopped by my home brew store today to see if there were available kits to make it at home. I found that you can order a kit, where you steep the wormwood & other herbs in a base neutral alcohol (grain or vodka), then filter it. I opted to try the extract they had in stock, that needs to be mixed with vodka & sugar. If it produces any effects beyond those alcohol-induced, I'll post again.

I had absinthe once.  I burned going up and down.

I tried it since then and its good if its served correctly, with sugar caramelized and ice. I had only a small quantity, but I did notice an almost immediate sensation from it.  I can see if you drank a lot you could get pretty toasty. the other thing was i had some horrifying realistic dreams that night.

We're finishing my basement, my brother in law and I are going to order 3 bottles of absinthe to celebrate.  Probably only need 1 and a half but it should be fun

Ha, I made absinthe about 2 or 3 years ago.  you order this kit of all kinds of herbs from overseas somewhere.  has anywhere from 6-10 bags of different shtein in it, i can't remember exactly how many.  anyway, you take half of them, they tell one which ones, and soak them in a bottle of grain alcohol in a warm sunny place for about a week or so.  then you drain it and soak the other half in the bottle in a cool dark place for about a week or so. so it takes several weeks, i can;t remember exactly how long.  at least two. 

anyway, when it was all done it got us all really farged up, but it is grain alcohol after all.  it just tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with dirt.  pretty nasty.  but it will definitely get you trashed.

i have a bottle of the real shtein from czechoslovakia in my freezer right now.  it tastes a little better but still like butt.

Jager by itself tastes like recycled iceholes and bellybuttons.  But Jagerbombs are decent.

But Jager Bombs are excellent also.

i don't know why so many people hate jager.  it's pretty sweet and easy to drink compared to a lot of liquor.  at least for me it is.  and i don't even like black licorice.
