I live in a pretty decent area of Northern Virginia, in a mid to higher end priced apartment complex. There is very little crime, and very few teenaged kids that live in about a ten block radius of my apartment complex. I woke up this morning, got ready to go to work, and went out to start the car to get it warmed up. As I was walking to the car I noticed the back driver's side tire was flat. That's zesty. It's happened before I think, I can fix this and probably not be late. So as I get closer to the car, I notice the car next to me has two flats on the passenger side. That's when I knew what had happened. I walked around to the other side of my car, and the front passenger tire had been slashed too. The car on the right side of my car, a nice new BMW, had all four of it's tires slashed as well. My car is not what you'd call a "nice ride", it's an 05 Civic. Not going to turn any heads, but the damn tires (and car) only have/had 10,000 miles on them  :boom. To make a long story short, the guy across from my complex that owns a shop was nice enough to tow everyone's cars over to his place free of charge, and only charged us half the normal labor rate. Filled out the police reports, called the insurance co., and all that jazz. Now I am sitting at work, and am still raging farging mad. I need some advice. I need to figure out how to find the iceholes that did this. The cops told me I really didn't have much of a chance, but that doesn't preclude me from trying anyway. Short of sitting in a tree all night with some binoculars, anyone have any ideas on the best way to figure out who would have done this?  >:( >:( >:(

MURP

In philly my car was vandalized multiple times.  Windows smashed twice, keyed up etc.   I found a cheap auto glass place in West Philly that charged about a 1/3rd of the price the dealership wanted to replace the windows.   Short of having a night vision camera recording your call all night it's gonna be hard to catch em, and thats if they come ever come back and hit it up twice.

Wingspan

soory to say, but you are shtein out of luck unless you catch them red handed.

a few years ago when i lived in manayunk, i came out to my car that had 2 windows shattered (one was the back windshield), and blood all over the side.

there was a police report and insurance claim. and they in fact caught the kids that did this (apparently they stole bikes up the hill, rode down and lost control, one was in the hospital). but there was nothing i could do other than get a "no fault" on my insurance. even if i took them to small claims, it wouldnt have been worth it.

It was probably DTC.

Advice:  Keep an eye out for kids/teens you haven't seen around the complex lately.  They may want to be in the area today to see some reactions from people or to see if people have fixed up their work.

One other thing to take into consideration, is it hard to find parking in your complex?  Do you have assigned spots?  It could be someone from your building that got pissed off about the parking situation and took it out on everybody that got a spot before him/her.

Chances are, the person lives real close to you and may come back.

Either that, or it was RJS and he made a trip down to Virginia to harass you and your neighbors cuz he's like that.

or you could move to the subarbs where minoraties arent allowed!
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

What do you want to do?  Beat the person/people up?  Turn them in to the cops?  I mean, let's say you find out who did this.  What do you imagine you'll do at that point?

Regarding how you find who did it, make sure there isn't any surveillance tape of the parking lot, or of any area close to it.  If a gang of kids did this, perhaps they walked by the camera at the 7-11 next door on their way to the lot?  If they did, the tape woulnd't prove anything, but it might give you a better direction to search it out.  If you want to spend some money, hire a private detective.   Are there any bums or crackheads in your neighborhood?  They might be useful for information.  Even a few dollars can get you high, so the decision between saying what you know in order to get the money you need to get high, and keeping a secret isn't a difficult one for an addict.  Could you set up a webcam?  Can you see the lot from your flat?

I'd say drop it and move on.  But if you won't drop it, let us know what happens.  I'm sure itll be worth a laugh no matter what.

Personally, I'd kneecap their asses.

I hate thieves.  I hate them and would definitely beat them to a pulp with a baseball bat.

Tires aren't cheap.  Well, exept for cheap tires.  But those aren't worth the money you pay for them.  So there you have it:  Tires aren't cheap.
