Does anyone really give a shtein about skin color anymore?

I mean, come on guys.  There's always going to be a small segment of the population that is hopelessly ignorant but I can't believe it's a majority or even a large minority.

Most people don't give a shtein about black or white any more than they care about Catholic or Protestant.  I know I don't.  When it concerns the Eagles, I care about performance on the field, period.

Skin color means nothing to me.

But it does to some idiots who root for the Eagles and say that we need a white QB because a black QB can't pick up Reid's offense.

When I hear it it makes me want to fight people.

i don't know if it's the majority or not, but that segment sure is vocal at Eagles games.  as soon as McNabb starts playing poorly its boos and slurs from a lot of people.

Really?

I can't believe people toss the "N" word out in the stands.

If so, that's pathetic and I just lost a lot of respect for my Eagles brethren.

:boo

not necessarily the 'N' word, but other similar words.

In the past 10 years or so, I've probably attended in person either at the Vet, the Linc or at away games roughly 30 Eagles games.

I have never once heard a racial slur uttered from the fans around me.  Not once, guys.  Honestly.

I'm not saying that this kind of asinine and reprehensible behavior doesn't take place, though.  I'm simply saying that I haven't heard it.  I've heard a lot of shtein, especially after the NFCCG losses, but never anything racial.  I don't think the people in my section would tolerate that kind of thing.  In know I wouldn't.

Rome

I did hear someone refer to Pinky as a farging Hoyda after the loss to Carolina, though.

;)

i sat in the 700 level and i sit in a similar seat at the Linc.  everybody is pretty brave up there, it's you typical mob mentality.  i'm not sure where you sat those times rome, but i know up high they are pretty brave.

dont get me wrong in no way am i trying portray the eagle fan base as racist...its not like you go to eagle games and cant get away from it...but it also isnt isolated incidents...i do agree with phreak in that its much more prevelant in bar talk and places other than the eagle games

its not like you are going to hear people screaming it towards mcnabb where the whole section can hear it...but its gets dropped regularly in conversations....often in the kind of conversation where someone is talking to the person next to him but really talking to everyone around them...i hear it in the bathroom lines too...again tho its not every game but its way more than it should be

what amazes me is the number of people that ignore it...whether it be out of uncomfortableness or agreement i dont know but not enough people oppose it...i always make a point of telling the person how much of an ignorant dumb farg they are and myself and my seatmmates have a couple times almost come to blows over it
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Rome

My family's seats were in 302 and I had seats in 746 at the Vet.

Section 110 at the Linc.

Like I said, I witnessed boorish behavior and heard language that would make VP Cheney blush, but I never heard racial epithets being hurled around.  The people in 302 had the same seats for 30 years.  Everyone knew each other and if someone started up with that kind of crap, it would have been taken care in house, so to speak.

I only sat in the 746 seats a few times and found that people were high more than they were rowdy.  Actually, I kinda liked that section because is was relatively mellow.

Section 110 is a Blue Blazer-type section, at least down low where I sit.  Ironically, the first two rows usually have family members either from the Eagles or the opposition in them, and they're predominantly black, so I seriously doubt you'd hear much racial crap being spewed there.

Whatever the case, it's a fricken embarrassment if it's as bad as you guys say and I'm personally disgusted at the very thought of it.

MURP

Dont worry, as soon as McNabb retires everyone will realize just how good they had it with him.   People forget the years of terrible QB's and attempt to compare McNabb with some fantasy world perfect QB that doesnt exist.

You mean Culpepper? Or wait, Tim Couch....no, sorry...Akili Smith?

Oh, you must mean Ricky Williams.

IGY - I think people ignore it because they're at the games to enjoy themselves, not get into confrontations with drunken louts.

More people should speak up, though.  I'm with you there.

i have to admit that i was very disappointed when the guys in front of me started talking about how we'd never win the big one with a black QB.  it seemed out of character for them so they could have been sarcastic, but still there are those in the stands that believe it's true.

Speaking of terribel QBs..

I was reading the official site the other day and they had a "where are they now" write-up on Brad Goebel.

No, I'm not joking.

Rome

 :-D

I saw that too!

I thought it was some sort of gag put out there as a Halloween trick.

It wasn't.

I lived 60 miles from Baylor and never realized he went there. Baylor sucks.

Although they've got Guy Morriss coaching them now. He's doing pretty good.
