The "medium" difficulty ones usually take me 10-15 minutes.  The "difficult" ones usually 20-25 minutes.

This one's supposed to be medium.  Ha.

They have taken over Britain too. If I'm bored on the tube commuting to work I fill in any old number in double quick time so people think I'm clever.

How many times did you have to guess?  More than once?

That gave me my first chuckle of the day.

My first guess, proved to be incorrect quickly, which is good because it let me know that the 'other' number in that square was the correct one. After that things opened up pretty quickly.

I've been hooked on these damn things for about 2 months now.

Here's the site for you if you can't get enough.  There's a new one every day and there's an archive that dates back to May.  Even a timer so you can see how slow you are.   :yay

I've been doing some "research", and the puzzles (even the hardest ones) are SUPPOSED to be done in such a way that you never HAVE to guess to complete it.  The challenge lies in trying to do one without guessing at all.

You can solve them much more quickly in many instances with guessing, but the mental stimulation is greater when you don't... or so they say.  I bought the "Mensa Sudoku" book the other night, and have done a few puzzles.  The book's kind of cool, because theoretically each one is more difficult than the last.

Father Demon

I've never heard of this puzzle until last week when rjs brought it up.  Now, this Sunday's paper had on init, next to the crossword puzzle.  I was at Borders bookstore this weekend, and they had about 25 different books on these things on an end cap.

If you use pencilmarks and practice a little, you should be able to solve even the most difficult ones w/o guessing.
