bottom line, just because you don't have ties to the city doesn't mean you can love this team, bandwagon jumpers being the exception to the rule.

but why would you root for this team if you weren't from around here?  that's what I never got.

if you live in a city/town/area that doesn't have an nfl team, you're not allowed to root for any team.

My Florida-born two-year-old already does the E-A-G-L-E-S chant with his daddy.

But now I have to tell him he's not a legitimate fan because IGY and PhillyFan said so...

Some of us weren't lucky enough to live in one place during our 'formative' years. I moved every coupld of years until I was about 12 when my family finally settled in the DC area. My pops raised me right. Penn State and Philadelphia were pounded into my brain. Only dipshteins who have no perspective outside of "Well I'm from here and I've lived here most of my life so no one else could possibly care this much about the team" would ever question my connection to Philly teams. So crammit, dipshteins.

it depends is you are from around here, because if you are, then it's legit, otherwise, sorry, toss the li'l guy off the bandwagon

Lad, I am with you 1000%...

...Fact is, my dad grew up in Eastern PA (Kennett Square and Berwick) ...

Good job reading people's responses before passing judgement, dipshtein.

Phanatic

To be honest no one is in any positition to tell someone else how strongly they feel for said or particular team. I grew up in Philly and I'm a Phanatic for Philly sports, but I've tailgated with some "non home grown" fans that are just as commited to getting their asses kicked in opposing stadiums around the league as I am. Whatever someone's reason are, if you've stuck with the team through the Rich Kotite era, good on you and your welcome to swill frosty ones and scream at the TV while watching the Eagles any given Sunday.

This is pretty much the filter point here, I think...

Dad drove FS61 and I over 60 miles each way to watch teams coached by Joe Kuharich, Jerry Williams, and Ed Khayat. If enduring that doesn't make us true Eagles fans, I don't know what does!  ;)
